I was looking through some of my first posts here and saw the story about the 1969 Topps supers and some of them possibly being rescued from a fire and water damage. Has someone confirmed that story? I still have my Cardinals team set and I remember my Bob Gibson having some water damage.

I love the Supers, especially the 1969. These have doubled in value in the last 10 years. I am in search of a 1969 Rich Allen in a PSA 8,9,or 10 holder.
I have a handful of graded 69s if anyone is looking for anything special. The 69 Supers are in alphabetical order by team city with 3 players from each team. The McNally,Rojas and Allen card gave me trouble. Not sure why.

The 69 Super set is my 2nd favorite Topps set. I am not a graded collector but ended up with several of these graded as purchased, including a Mantle PSA 9 ST, which might be related to that issue
I also have a straight PSA 10 Rose and straight 9s of Mays, Allen, F Robinson, Horton, McClain and Stottlemeir , and a Clemente 8, and a Tiant GAI 10. All bought many, many years ago. Several other 8s but many ungraded.

Neat article! I was 1 year old in 1976!
Here are my 1969 Topps Supers. It wasn't Gibson that had water damage...it was McCarver.

I love the notion that poor condition cards were valued at 50% of mintish cards. Imagine if a PSA 1 ‘52 Topps Mantle was half the cost of a PSA 8.
