Here's my game that I think Mark referred to earlier -- it's not a great photo, but it does show the discs for both teams (Giants and Athletics).

Terrific piece, TL, we're envious. There are two versions of the game, essentially identical, but one measuring about 18" square, the other about 13" square. The patent, obviously, reads "1911," and that's accurate, but period advertising and the players included among the markers suggest the game actually hit the market closer to 1914. It's nearly identical to Auto-Play Baseball Game, an even scarcer number from the same era.
The price range jcm quotes is way high, though (as are the figures in almost every "price guide" for any collectible). One did sell for over $900. at Hunt fifteen years ago, pre-eBay, but the dozen or so other auctions for the game that we've tracked over the past eight or ten years have averaged a little under $200. Condition and completeness, of course, play a big role in price -- minty examples with the player markers (and/or box) easily go for over $300., while a well-used board all by itself can be had for around $50.

Yes- it was indeed yours that I was referencing. I couldn't recall, as it had been a while since you posted it. Plus, I actually replied from my cell just as a flight attendant was shutting me down, pre-flight. I should have recalled that it was yours, but was rushing to get the post in before they confiscated my phone ![]() Great game... and under-valued IMO (assuming the prices quoted above are correct). |
