Default 1948 Topps magic

Jeff, I wasn't aware Topps made cards in 1948. I assumed the 1st year was 1950? The cards are great!

The full 1948 set is comprised of a variety of sports and entertainment cards so many purists don't consider it a "real" football set. Some of the price guides list it as a set and some don't. VCP pulls the football cards out as a set so I considered it one.

Everybody calls the 1951 topps set Topps Magic but the 1948 cards are truly magic as they came out of the pack as unexposed photographs. The image would appear when exposed to light. These are sometimes designated as Topps Magic Photos. The condition of these cards vary greatly as many of the photographs never really fully exposed when opened and are quite light. They are pretty easy to obtain and cheap so an easy set to complete if you want to.

Hope this helps.
