Happy to help … let’s see them all together!

I can’t say I’d ever seen this in mini or full-size, has anyone else? I’ve seen Boston and Atlanta, but no Milwaukee.

Not big. Like, 4" x 9". Faux spines + real tassels. Go figure...?

The font is excellent. What are you thinking, date wise?

I initially thought late 1930s. However the same batter graphic appears on a 1948 Yankees and 1949 Dodgers. So maybe it’s a bit later?

Actually the batter isn’t *exactly* the same … the Giant hitter has a wider stance.

Very similar. Love the green color on the Yankees.

Awesome Giants Pennant Marc...

I think mid-late 1940s is a safe bet on that one. Congrats!

Both of these pennants are VERY rare and will cost a pretty penny. Not something someone is likely to trade, but you never know.

I would have thought 30’s also, but you can’t discount the opinions of Mark and Greg.

I don’t think I’ve ever traded a pennant. I rarely trade anything because if I bought something in the first place, it was because I wanted it. Never say never, but I’d have to be offered something pretty good to part with a Giants pennant. I think trading might be more prevalent between general collectors rather than between team specific guys.

Agree with both Rob and Jason. Here are both pennants, yes they are hard to find. Killebrew has a more common ASCO pic pennant but this one rarely surfaces.

Being a “general” collector I do have interest in trading, as I still favor some teams over others and generally I go for aesthetic appeal. I prefer trading to selling (the latter of which I rarely do.) Personally I’m not the biggest fan of these later WGN pennants but I am not oblivious to its rarity. (And yes I’ve been in touch with Erik.)

Regarding the Killebrew pennant: are there any difference on the back compared to the version with the color photo?

I won the green SF Giants pennant. I'll post pics when it arrives. I've picked up a number of nice Giants pennants this month after going a long time with nothing all that special Giants related. Here is one that just arrived today. Great colors.

That's by far the nicest one of those I've ever seen. Love the deep purple cloth, and impossible to find this one with uncracked graphics. The cool orange tassels are just icing on the cake. Great pickup!

The white version of this pennant is exceptionally more difficult than the other colors (blue, black, red, green, and white) due to staining etc.

My color Killebrew is buried in a tub, but here’s a pic of the black and white version we are discussing. I think it’s the same?

The only SF Giants pennant depicting Seals Stadium. It's rare in any form, but the version with only black graphics is more common (the second pic). I had only seen a worthpoint picture of the one with white paint. The discoloration seems to be how the felt aged, as the discoloration did not affect the spine.

If I take a photo with my iPhone, the file is a PNG and that usually fails to upload. I then take a screenshot of the sane photo on my phone, after which it becomes a JPEG. And that always works. I’m guessing there’s a more efficient way but try this … take a picture with your phone and then a screenshot of the picture.

Did you get that Giants pennant Marc? Nice find.

I just had these arrive in the mail today. I believe the White Sox pennant is pretty rare but I'd welcome any additional info. The tip is blunted but otherwise it's in pretty good condition.

The Indians pennant looks like someone used a marker or crayon to color some of the graphics. But I'm going to see if I can gently clean it.

That’s so weird and cool. A 3/4 size screen on a full-size pennant.

There’s a late 60s Cubs pennant with a cartoon cubbie head that is made like that …

Great pennant, Marc! Crazy how something never seen (to my knowledge) can surface. I wonder if Domer has any insight into that felt which is kind of “bumpy”?

Yeah, Rob, I know there are a number of Giants pennants that I have never seen for sale, but I at least have pictures of them (many from you). Something completely new was unexpected. I guess the last time that happened was with the last run Keezer pennant.

The seller told me that he pulled the pennant off of a garage wall at an estate sale in Palo Alto. It would not surprise me if it was made in and never left the Bay Area. There are tons of low- to mid-level quality San Francisco tourist pennants out there in the world and maybe some were made in SF? So there were local makers?

In some ways, having the "scene" to the left reminds me of the circa 1950 Trench champions pennants (see NY pennant below), although the art on the SF is not as good.

I don't know anything about bumpy felt.... But, I tend to agree that the style of this one resembles those pennants from the "insert ballpark name" series you point out, Marc.

Of note, here's a Cin'ti Reds one that just sold that is the proper 3/4 size at 8.5 x 26", which conveniently matches the typical dimensions of pennants from the above series--which I believe were all made by Trench.

I've got that one.... long and skinny for a 3/4 pennant. Seldom-seen variation.

I don't anything about bumpy felt....

That is crazy interesting to a pennant geek (me). Same graphics as Marc’s but made for a team 2000 miles away. I think Greg is correct in that it’s a 3/4 graphic on a full sized pennant.

I agree. It does look like a 3/4 design that, for whatever reason, was printed on a bigger size piece of felt.

Which is something we discussed a few months ago concerning the "insert ballpark name" series; at least ... when it came to Giants pennants.

These two likely came from '51 or '54. The top is is 3/4. The bottom is full size. Identical graphics down to the size of the printed space. Different size felt.

I suspect the vendor just wanted to offer multiple sizes to their customers; and the maker just wasn't willing to enlarge their screen for such a limited pennant run??

That's really interesting to see the same scene/design on a pennant for a different team. Probably rules out a local maker unless the local maker was making pennants (copying Trench) for the Giants and visiting teams.

Mark or anyone else- you mention that the Reds pennant is a seldom seen variation. Is there a more common Reds that fits with the "insert ballpark" style?

I just can’t come to accept that the same company (Trench) produced these two pennants in the same year … still think that the “baseball scene” pennants are from a yet to be identified company …

This Browns appears to be from the same company as the Phillies above with the baseball scene, based on the block letter font and also the construction, including tassels that don’t match in color to the spine. (There are known Trenches that share that characteristic but they seem to all be early 1960s.)

My "seldom-seen" comment above actually pertained to the rare White Sox 3/4 pennant.

But that Reds 3/4 is also quite scarce. There's one that's a bit more common with a similar game scene depicted. But that one says "Crosley Field" within the graphics... matching the "Polo Grounds" and "Shibe Park" examples posted above.

The somewhat generic graphics on the Reds pennant shown above are often found on Phillies Pennants in particular.

Thanks Mark. I want to say that White Sox pennant is from the 1940s. Does that sound right?

Yes... but probably towards the end of the '40s or perhaps even early '50s.

Great pennant!

My son blew out his first baseman's glove this past weekend in a tournament. The local glove doctor is also a barber. I went to his barber shop this AM to pick up the repaired glove and the walls were covered in pennants. He said that clients bring them in and they add them to the wall. Most of it was newer stuff, but then there was this Luv Ya Blue Oliers pennant that neither Fballguy nor I had ever seen before. And, yes, I did try to buy it.... to no avail.

Surprising. I figure it would be worth more to you than him.

Trivia: do you know the former pitcher known as The Barber?

LOL. I will send you a pic of my favorite Giants pennant. I think I’ve had this for about 25 years now.

Definitely a Holy Grail for Giants collectors and pennant collectors in general. I have no realistic hope of ever getting one. BTW, Greg, how long have you had the sickness? I started collecting 30 years ago.
