Thanks for the kind words, Mike. I meant every word, your Mantle bat RULES!
Here's a letter that spells out the future of the Pittsburgh Pirates Organization. Although the Dodgers did most everything they could to hide the talents of their young gifted Right Fielder, the Bucs snapped him up in the Draft. Also included is a copy letter of the request of Clemente's contract and bonus status that the Pirates sent Nov. 23, 1954. 1954-Clemente-Letter.jpg 1954CLEMENTEletter3.jpg1954CLEMENTEletter4.jpg |

Japanese Baseball Broadside
Meiji University (明治大学, Meiji daigaku?) is a private university in Tokyo and Kawasaki, founded in 1881 by three lawyers of the Meiji era, Kishimoto Tatsuo, Miyagi Kōzō, and Yashiro Misao. It is one of the largest and most prestigious Japanese universities in Tokyo, Japan. Sourced from Wikipedia I think I've posted this previous...picked it up at the 2011 National. I have a lot of one of a kind pieces but I thought this would be a classic example for this thread. I'm wild for sports event broadside posters. The guy I got it from specialized in Japanese baseball....He'd never seen it before and told me it was the from the first year Yankee Stadium opened.

I am really enjoying this thread. It reflects why I enjoy memorabilia so much more than cards. I have these four large size advertising items below. I realize that although I have never seen them before does not mean others have not. The Berra saving bonds poster I have seen in the national archive web site, but not anywhere else. http://www.archives.gov/publications.../baseball.html They have prints of it for sale. I have never seen any other examples of the two Japanese pieces featuring Oh and Nagashima. I am told one is a movie 1960 poster while the other is an advertising poster for a late 1950’s Japanese baseball magazine? The Drysdale piece I assume is an advertising piece for a sporting good store? Nonetheless these are the only examples that I have ever seen of these items. Has anyone else ever come across other examples of them? If so could you please share your knowledge? Thanks!

Babe Ruth Hat
I had this posted before on here to try and ID it. I was sent this ad that was on ebay that might explain it's origin. I have not seen anything like it in all my searches. It is one of my favorite items in my collection. if anyone has seen another item like this please let me know. In looking at the ad they came in quit a few colors. I find it interesting that in the ad it cost more west of the Mississippi. I also think that at that time (1922) a $1.00/$1.25 was alot of money.
