These three arrived in the past week. I overpaid for the cabinet but could care less; as soon as I saw it I knew I had to have it. The cabinet looks so much better in hand than that scan shows.

Well, I was prepared to "overpay" for the cabinet at one increment lower...congrats on the win....your "overpay" beat my "overpay limit" by one bid.

Default E90-3 Fred Payne, Chicago White Sox

Finally pulled the trigger on this Fred Payne E90-3 American Caramel.

Always liked this portrait of Fred Payne. It will make a nice companion piece with my other E90-3 catcher card, Jimmy Archer.

Nice pick ups everyone especially Steve's Cobb and Ryan's Cy!

I posted this on the Postcard thread, and since it’s a June acquisition thought I’d also post it here.

I received this RPPC of Kelly Mascot, the seven-year-old son of Goldsboro’s 1910 manager, M. J. Kelly, as a birthday gift from my friend David McDonald. The PC is doubly interesting since it is addressed to the wife of a pitcher on the Goldsboro team, Fred Stoehr.

I’m going to write more about the Kelly-Stoehr connection but wonder if anyone else has seen another copy of this PC?

I have a few RPPCs from the Eastern Carolina League in the same format as this one, and they usually depict a player whose image appears on T209 and T210. I’m trying to determine how many of the PCs exist and would appreciate knowing if anyone else has examples.

Thanks for looking,
Mike

Usually Old Judge "proofs" go for $750-$1500 unless it is a better player. Or in this case, a particularly nice image. So, yes, a little more than usual, but it's like when a better-centered card commands a premium over the usual price for that grade...it's more than usual but understandably so (and I had reached what I could afford on this month's budget). Just don't post it in too many threads!

Beautiful and awesome pickup, but even cooler story on David sending it to you for your birthday! That's what the hobby is all about!

The only Cobby I can afford lately. One of the distributors I didn't have so that's a plus too...The NY lineup on back is kind of cool also.

How about that '47 Brooklyn team. Another few off my want list. Not sure why Jackie is only a 4.

because they never give these more than 4's lol. We had a stunning complete Yankee set, original envelope and virtually no wear. We got one 4.5 and a pile of 4's and a couple 3's

I'd have to think that these are similar to grading the premiums from the 30s. Hard to get higher than VG-EX because the paper is so thin and lends itself to bending easily.

Hi John, I hope you’re well. Yes it was a difficult decision made easier by the Uzit Cobb acquisition. I had no intention to sell it until Steve approached me right around the time the Uzit hit the market.

Again, a hearty congrats to Steve! A great great card but I’m getting old and slowing down and she’s just too much of a freak for me! I had to set her free.

There are actually 3 PSA graded Nadja Cobbs.

Welcome Phil to the Fenway Barker Baker club!

Frank's unibrow rivals Wally Moon's. I never noticed it on my card...perhaps your scan just brought it out in all its glory.

I rarely pick up items from the 19th century, but I could not resist this scorecard initialed by Harry Wright and listing Anson, Sunday, Clarkson, etc.

Default Only took 16 years...

On June 2, 2008 I won a Police Gazette supplement of Al Bridwell on ebay, putting me one step closer to a complete set.

A couple days after I won, a guy on ebay sent me a note explaining his connection to Bridwell, asking if I would sell it to him. Being too nice for my own good, I said yes, selling it to him for the amount I had paid plus the postage to send it to him.

In the "no good deed goes unpunished" department, it took more than 16 years before I FINALLY found another Bridwell, so I'm again one step closer to set completion.

Still looking for :
1901 Matty
1904 WS Teams
1905 Chesbro

That's a great piece. Is it dated anywhere, or am I just overlooking the date?

Congrats on the pickups. Still regret moving my Moore recently.

Thanks! Yeah, I noticed that, too. It is not dated. I have another one handwritten by Harry, and it is dated 1885.

I've been working on a Jersey City Skeeters prewar team collection for years and have been able to obtain just about all the obtainable cards out there, but still needed this 1909 Colgan's Chip of Abstein. I've been looking for one for years and just never saw one come up. I've posted in the BST here a few times over the years and never got a response.

Well, a couple months ago I tried it again and a board member reached out and said he had one that he would let go. Then I took a break from cards for a while (I didn't plan on it, just got really busy at work and sometimes just take a break for no real reason) and completely forgot that he and I had started talking about the Abstein. Then, when I came back to my cards and Net54, I remembered we had a conversation going and I reached back out to him letting him know I was still interested. He was kind enough to continue with our deal even though I basically ghosted him in the middle of it. And I am now the proud new owner of this baby! This was definitely the longest time a deal has taken me to seal (all my fault of course) but I want to shout out a huge Thank You to gentleman who put up with me and sold this to me. You're awesome man!

This completes my Colgan's Jersey City team set as well.
