I don't particularly collect photos, but occasionally find photos related to the areas I collect.
- 1934 US Tour of Japan Connie Mack Auto - Over the years I've acquired signed photos from the 1931 and 1934 teams. Never had the biggest names (Ruth, Gehrig, Foxx, Berg etc) but most of the others including HOFs. Here is the Mack - 1947 NY Cubans photo - It's in rough shape but features the Negro League Champion NY Cubans. I think that Orestes Minnie Minoso who is featured has a good chance at the HOF. Luis Tiant Sr was also on the team and is probably worthy of serious consideration. - 1946 Tampico Alijadores Team Photo - Most significant is HOF Raymond Brown in the back row - Alejandro Oms passport - Has a nice autograph along with the photo |

Picked this up from Hank Thomas recently, from the Johnson estate. I don't have a card of Johnson, but I could afford this. Circa 1924. Great pic.

First off, love those photos, Jay!
I did some research (read the notation on the back and searched google. ha!) only to discover this is American Bob Seagren, 1968 Olympic pole vault champion. Whodda thunk it?

'38 World Series
I picked up a binder of wire photos from 1938 a while ago. It's taken a long time but they've finally arrived. It looks like the person who assembled the photos was a Cubs fan and the wire photos range from the NL Championship through to the World Series that year.
The first photo here is of Gehrig welcoming Di Magio after a home run in the 9th Inning of Game 2. The major downside of the collection is that the photos have all been laminated.

It's the sticky laminate, unfortunately. On one of the pages the laminate had bubbled and was a little loose. I used that to see if there was a way to pull the laminate off. I don't think it can be. I'm open to suggestions if anyone has experience with that sort of thing.

Here is a really cool one of Roberto and Vera Clemente. I picked this up on ebay from a seller out of San Juan. There are no details of the event Roberto and Vera are attending on the back, just a stamp from "Bohemia Libre". I'm sure it's from a publication of the same name that ran in Puerto Rico in the 1960s/70s. This is by far and away is the most clear image of Clemente I've seen. Uploading here won't do it any justice but I'll try. With it being 8x10, it blows you away in person. Coming from San Juan makes it all the more cool to me. Thanks for looking and great thread!

Wow, Adam...
Those photos are all crazy-good images of those icons. Butkus looks just insane enough to rip your head off, and Wilt looks like he'd prevail, even if the entire defense isolated on him. And that Cubbies "7 Dwarfs" Catalina shot is priceless. Love the Bill Russell and Joe Louis shots as well. Great stuff!

I like to pick up photos that are obscure. Whether for my PC or not, I can't pass up this kind of image.
Chris Mahoney only played 3 Games ever in the Major League. In 1910 with the red sox he lost a start and threw a save. He got 1 hit and 1 run as a batter. Beautiful name header and stamps. "The new Boston Red Sox Pitcher"

I just found this among my father's items. He and my grandmother passed away close to two years ago. A photo album of my fathers time serving in Korea (approximately 1971) was among my grandmother's stuff. I don't know who the others are, but my father is kneeling bottom left. The gentleman in the middle is wearing a shirt that says Korea, 122 Signal Battalion, in which my father was an officer (ROTC Eastern WA University 1966 - 1970). I would love to find one of those flannels! The Bayonets. No writing on the back, sadly.

Reviving a fun photo thread!
Found a scan of one of my favorite Baseball-related photos: Cleveland Groundskeeper Harold Bossard clearing snow from Municipal Stadium to get ready for opening day in 1978. Harold was son of Legendary Cleveland Groundskeeper Emil Bossard, and was a fine Groundskeeper in his own right. One of the many Bossard family members to prep the field for Cleveland over the years.
Is it baseball season yet???

This image is older than 1913. Based upon configuration of the ballpark it’s actually 1910 at the Polo Grounds. A fire burned down the grandstand after the second game of the 1911 season and the rebuilt structure looked very different. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
