Congratulations, Andy; what a honey of a '62 JELL-O box!!!!! Furthermore, the box carries the rarest flavor---Apple, discontinued late in the spring of '62, as I understand. Way da go, bro!!!!! --- Brian Powell

Traded away
Here's one I used to have. I traded it away for some tougher cards from the 1962 Jell-O set that I needed.

Tuttle Box
This is great! Another unknown flavor for a player identified. We did not have Tuttle with a flavor in our list.

Tuttle Lemon gelatin ?
I think I've also seen a picture of a 1962 Jell-O Tuttle lemon gelatin, but I can't seem to locate it. If I do, I will post the picture.

I know this thread is primarily focused on intact Jello boxes. I have my dad's "album" that he glued his Post cards into when he was a kid, and I took a number of pictures of each of the pages. Is there any interest/would there be any use for me to post those pictures here? Or should I start a separate thread? They might all be common cards, and you experts might not learn anything new. But since you seem to be able to determine some amazing information from the cards themselves, I didn't know if that would be of any help. Just let me know.

Good morning, Zach. I chanced to read your comment last evening. I was humbled with your kindness, and am not ashamed to say I lost my composure for a few minutes. I am so glad you enjoyed my book. Thanks again. --- Brian Powell

Here are my recent pickups for the 1962 Jello Complete Boxes, just back from PSA.
Pretty happy with the grades. Obviously with such large pieces and so many moving parts, there’s bound to be some imperfections, toning, soiling, dents and dings, print errata, etc. Going in, I was hoping they would get as high as a 7, but was resigned to the possibility they might grade as low as a 4. Although if we’re being honest, considering these are the only complete boxes ever graded for these players from this set, the grades are secondary. Plus even if another piece were to be found and graded, the odds are good that it would struggle to grade above a 1, simply because most of these boxes were actually used to hold jello mix, and so just the process of opening them leaves enough damage to the ends that they won’t grade above that level.

Nicolo, I am amazed all over again at your incredible acquisitions. I believe you should be ecstatic with your grades, even though I would have graded them MINT or at least NR MT / MT.
They were very well preserved over the years, and let's face it, it doesn't take much for a PSA grader to decide for some crazy reason that iddy biddy stupid technicalities render these unique boxes a 1 or 2. I honestly feel hope from your grades, sir. Perhaps the graders are taking these 61-year old boxes and evaluating them as 61-year old boxes, and not as a 21st century Topps. I fully realize and agree the standards are the standards, but I have read, and was told, that PSA cuts a little (A LITTLE!!!!!!!) slack for older cards, particularly since the cardboard cannot remain entirely pristine as the decades go by. All to say, I am so happy for you. Celebrate with your favorite flavor of JELL-O! Either of these two boxes would be a centerpiece among a Willie Mays or Hank Aaron PSA Master Set Registry grouping. I don't know if PSA would allow it in, since the unfolded boxes are unique, 1 of 1s. Be that as it may, envisioning each of them in an All-State display case among an array of Say Hey's and Hammerin' Hank's finest cards, the unfolded JELL-O box might not be the crown jewel, but a blue diamond that would hold its own and draw intense attention. I see these ultra JELL-O boxes and start to wax lyrical. Anyways, congrats and well done again, Nicolo! ---- Brian Powell Last edited by brian1961; 09-04-2023 at 11:16 AM. |

I’ve petitioned PSA to add them to the master set registry for both players. I will observe that PSA does include the 1963 complete box in the Mays master set, so that’s a good indication that I’ll probably get lucky here. Although truth be told, there are now 2 copies of the 1963 complete box for Mays (so it’s not 1 of 1), and I own both of them. Here they are, since I’m sure everyone would love to see them too, even if clearly not 1962s…

Who’s ready for a 62? Al Spangler! I understand this was one of the short prints, although I’m sure one of the 62 Jello experts can help to clarify.

Just got these 63 complete boxes in the mail today. Yes, the Snider has remarkably poor registration.
