I hate to say it, but he should have just stuck to his guns and said it was the Post Offices fault. He basically admitted the fraud by canceling the claim. Good for him, at least he won't be stealing anyone else's money any time soon.

As was posted earlier, it was said the seller never had the card in the first place to sell, just the borrowed image. Huggins and Scott said they've had the card the whole time. If that's true, that would be evidence the seller would have a tough time getting around.

The Post Office has nothing to do with this case. He shipped the card by UPS. Since UPS is a private company, they will have to go after him for the attempted fraud (and I hope they do!)

Sad to say, many crooks have learned to avoid shipping by US Postal Service because they have a reputation of being tougher on mail fraud. It is a Federal crime and that scares off some of the crooks. (I'm not saying this reputation is deserved, but it's a perception.)

We have a couple of long time UPS employees on this board (and who have commented in this thread.) Perhaps they can chime in on how UPS handles this sort of thing vs. how the USPS deals with it.

Scott Mele is aware of this thread and has contacted me (and probably the other moderators) about taking this thread down before he gives his side of the story. How stupid does he think we are? What other side of the story could there be? He stole the scan from Huggins and Scott!!! He shipped an empty box with a slit in it!!! He dropped his insurance claim with UPS the minute they were on to him!!!

I have not been contacted by this person or their attorney. However, I did recently (about a week ago) get a Cease and Desist letter from Susor's attorney to take down the Markel thread. I am going to see if Beckett can slab it in one of those real big holders. Of course the thread remains though it has skipped to the previous page.....

Say the word. A simple bump would bring it back.

I think most of the board lawyers would tell you that you're pretty safe from getting hassled over what someone else says on your board.

Besides, the truth is a damn good defense.

Default Send this thread to his employer

I would send this thread to the shippers employer, that should really hit him where it hurts.
