However they did take a sample from them when they were arrested and are awaiting to see if it is a match. Even though they had the ball in their possession, they are still pleading not guilty. They can say that they just received the ball from somebody and didn't steal it. The DNA match will refute that assertion. Thanks again to all of you who provided positive responses to this issue.
Congrats, Dave! That's a relief!

How did the thieves get into your house and how could/did they get into your safe?

Wow, you're expecting him to read the article? What's wrong with you?

I thought Dave was in Illinois for obvious reasons. I thought the article was posted merely for context since it was posted by a fellow in Florida about events that occurred in Los Angeles.

No worries; the rest of us are here to help.

What I noticed is that the suspects did this to at least several victims, stole well into 6 figures, damaged other things, were adept at identity theft, and were released on bail.

What I can't understand is how the suspects could be so dumb. If they'd managed to locate Dave's safe and take the baseball, you'd think they would have left the house spotless with everything in the exact same place so that Dave would not have suspected anything was wrong/missing.

They appear to be meth enthusiasts.
Glad Dave got the ball back, it’s a beauty
