T206 printing mystery

The cards I have are all from the 350 series. Some sheets are blank back and some are Sweet Caporal 350 subjects.

Regarding the miscut Sweet caporal back showing factory 30 and factory 42 and the scroll bar....
The Sweet cap factory 30 cards were printed, THEN the factory 42 line and scroll were added. The scroll was intended to cover the factory 30 line. Most of the times it was successful; other times you can get a T206 with two factory lines. The Sweet caporal back earlier in this thread was so miscut that the factory 42 line and scroll are way off from their intended placing.

Maybe the factory # just indicated to American Lithograph where to send the cards (i.e. which cigarette factory).

Art: I agree completely ... the Fact. 42 designation was not supposed to be there on the Sweet Cap Fact. 30 back. But, I think that Sweet Cap back proves that T206s were not printed in coils, and then sent to a specific factory where that factory's specific back was applied (which is the theory put forth in the original post in this thread). I don't believe "Fact. 42" would have been printed on that Sweet Cap back at Factory 30, even by mistake.

Thus, I agree with others here that T206s were printed in sheets, with the backs applied (with the various factory designations) in one place. Actually, there could have been multiple places where the printing took place, but the cards were printed in sheets and the backs applied in each of those places.

I offer as some evidence the T206 Barbeau shown below. The red back print on the card front doesn't match any T206 back I've ever seen. If the ATC had lots of sets of lots of subjects printed at the same place it is possible that a scrap sheet used for some non-baseball set inadvertently wound up in the press for a T206 run and then slipped out. Anyhow, here is the scan:

Nice link, thanx for bringing it to our attention.

To answer your question....there are sheets of OBAK's and there are sheets
of E93's......but no sheets, yet, of T206's.
