Guys,

I know how we can get more people to our SF Dinner. We can set aside an hour after dinner for trading cards. You can bring any of your cards, but no money should be exchanged. Who's game.

BcD,

Can I count you in for dinner. What do you think about a trading hour after dinner. We try to minimize the money that changes hands.

peter, when was the last time you heard of anyone trading pure Vintage cards?
Why do you think the card market is so high? because no one wants to "trade"! people will spend tons of money for something as long as they don't have to give anything of substance up or they need money for priorities real bad so they want to see for 3x the actual value. No one coming to this dinner is going to be doing any trading unless its psa 9 Carney Lansford rookie cards

Mark, that's great, now we have 3. BcD sure you can trade vintage cards, look at it this way if everything works out there will be about 6 guys and we'll be looking for fair trades instead of exorbitant profits. You might need to make a couple of trades before you get what you want. What is the worst thing that could happen. We could spend a lot of time discussing the merits of different cards and no actual trade is completed. That's not so bad, isn't that what GMs do most of the time. There's a lot of talk but no trade.

Mark Macrae's show doesn't happen to be that same weekend, does it? That would make 2 good excuses for a road trip.

Julie,

The dinner is set for June 30th, 2007 so it's still a ways off. However, in addition to the normal attractions of SF we also have the all-star game that week. So SF would be a great summer vacation destination this year.

Guys and Gals,

Remember even if you leave SF before the All-Star game you can participate in the Fanfest which begins about July 5, 2007 (?).

Guys,

You are all invited to the First SF Dinner here at the Bocce Cafe located at:

478 Green St.
SF, CA
(415)981-2044

On Saturday night at 7:00 on June 30, 2007. Please e-mail to confirm. I know that people have busy schedules but I would sure like to speak to you in person. Maybe this will be the start of a tradition. Incidently, this event is being held close to the midpoint of the baseball season and only a week and a half from the All-Star game which will be held in SF this year.

Clear up your schedule and confirm. You can confirm here on this thread or by e-mailing me directly. Thanks.

Peter

So far there have been 5 people that have confirmed for our June 30th dinner. Come on people, we are talking about SF the Sodom and Gomorah of the West...I mean home of the SF Giants and the Golden Gate Bridge. Actually Bocce Cafe is pretty close to Broadway, North Beach area which is pretty darn close to Sodom and Gomorah (sic) anyway, we're all adults. Let me know on this thread or by e-mail if you would like to join us.

There's something about walking around North Beach with pre-war cards that sounds a little iffy. The meth users steal guard rails to sell for scrap metal, if you know what I mean.

You miss the point. In SF there's crazy people from all over the world. We're going to fit right in. Most of the meth users have no idea of what the difference between bus tickets and prewar vintage cards. We're going to be perfectly safe. If you want more encouragement, e-mail me at chaolopez@yahoo.com, hope to see you.

Guys, and Gals

This is the last call for confirming attendance for June 30th, 2007, dinner for Net54 members here in the Bay Area.

I'm starting a rumor right now that Mark Mcrae may show-up at the dinner. Also, the all-star Fanfest will occur in the following week. Another rumor is that Todd McFarlane will issue a Barry Bond's Starting Line-up to commeorate (SIC) home run No. 756, these figures will be sold at the Fanfest.
This follows Topps tradition of issuing a card in 1974 for Hank Aaron prior to him breaking the record.

At any rate, if your going to the dinner, please confirm by responding on this thread or e-mailing me directly.

I look forward to seeing Net54 members.
