Thank you Joe I was thinking maybe I could do a Washington Team Run.
Also Todd nice T210.I really like the high grade Red Borders.I bought a couple from the same dealer awhile back. |

Washington team run would be cool, a couple Hall of Famers, some cool poses and Paul Hines. Not too many tough cards, but it may take awhile for some players like Boyce for example. I tried a Pittsburgh run and never got the Deacon White card before he made the HOF, so I screwed up there (sad trumpet)

Pete, those are my favorite Ruth and Wagner card images and that Cobb is probably only second to the E95. Great pick-ups.

Thanks Jason and TBob. You know me, I love those black and white cards. The striking red borders of T210 might be a little too much color for me---oh well, I could always trim 'em off.

a few postcards and photos
The first is a 1908-09 Rose Co. postcard of Eddie Grant with rare overprinted advertising on the reverse. Eddie was a Harvard graduate, major league baseball player, lawyer, Army enlistee to fight in World War I, and a war hero killed in action. Look him up.
The second is not baseball, of course, but since I was posting the Grant I thought I'd include it since it's an interesting one. It's postmarked 1909. The last few are mystery photos of African American baseball coming from a photo album of 1930's+ era Atlanta material. Anyone recognize uniforms or place? Yes, I am sure they knew exactly what they were. I would guess value approaching .25 each, depending on the bidders.

I've got a 33 Goudey Ruth (#53) that I've had for a few years. I've looked it over many, many times trying to find anything "wrong" with it.
I finally boxed it up and shipped it off to SGC yesterday. I'm scared... someone hold me. |

I didn't pay much for them so if they come back as fake, repros, etc. I'm not out an arm and a leg. I haven't even cracked them out of the screwdowns yet. Sorry about the scan. The red Ruth is a little faded but not as much as what the scan shows. Also picked up 55 Bowman Mays, Aaron, and Banks, 57 Topps Mantle, and 58 Topps #418 Mantle and Aaron.

Hi Jason - Nice N172 O'Brien card. But, you really should stick to T210s until you complete all 8 series before you embark on a N172 Washington team set ('cause I don't need any more competition)!! In addition to HOFers Mack and O'Day, "Dummy" Hoy is in the Wash. N172 team set. And, there are a few 2-player cards, which are rather tough to find. Best, Val |

Not exactly the most famous card but one of the coolest action shots ever. Coughlin, Dietsche PC. It's an SGC 80.

While I am certain that every other card in this thread is more valuable than my latest pickup, I just cannot believe how much I have fallen in love with this little piece of cardboard. This is the first ungraded T206 I've ever owned, and as I pulled it out of it's top loader and penny sleeve tonight, and held it in my hands, the history of this little common overwhelmed me. I started to think about the travels this card must have taken. The rounded corners, scrapes, stains and dimples on the front and back tell a story. Who first pulled it out of a pack of Piedmont tobacco back in 1909 or 1910? Who may have owned this card, and where? It's a feeling I haven't gotten from any of the graded cards I've added. They, too, are beautiful, but there is something to be said for being able to feel a card in your hand, and smell it. It's just an amazing feeling.
