Got a cool Girls team snap today. What makes it special is it was taken on my birthday. Also the Permanent Hi-Gloss Fade-Pruf Stamp is something I have never seen before. I had no idea photo fading was being addressed as a problem in the early 1930s! Guaranteed not to fade or discolor, now that's a bold statement.

Anybody recognize the AGA Emblem on the one Girls Shirt? Have looked high and low to no avail on identifying.

Just picked this early career Ted Williams signed snapper. I don't often see the "Ted" with quotes version of his auto. Anyone know anything about that version?

Nice pick up Paul! Beautiful autograph!

Not sure when he started or ended the "Ted" but the photo appears to be from 1940 if that helps based on the Calvert billboard ad.

I was in Pittsburgh for opening day (how about them Bucs 9-2!) anyway I added another original Clemente wedding snapshot to my collection. It’s the first one pictured here. I believe I posted the other two before. Posting them here as they make a nice grouping. All three originate from the Clemente Wedding album.

Forbes Field behind left/left center field. Seller said it was 1911-1915 but I really have no idea. Can't find any other shots with these lights showing. Maybe somebody else is good at dating stadiums?
Really beautiful shot with the model T. Unique as it was taken beyond the outfield rather than in the stands pointing to the outfield like 99% usually are. Things like this are my favorite. Mounted to a cabinet card, but cropped for better viewing experience.

Just a beautiful piece Lucas! I'm just now noticing, are those kids/people looking through the fence center right in the photo?

Tyvm Wade, and I think you are right, Definitely looks like it. The fence height was 12 feet tall and they look way too short to be adults in comparison. That would explain kids looking through a gap low to the ground. Great eye.

If anybody else wants to see it a bit better here's the full size/resolution on my site. https://imageevent.com/lucas00/snaps...=1&n=1&l=0&z=9

1962 spring training with Mickey Mantle signing autos for the youngsters. It has a really interesting note in Spanish on the back. Translated it reads:

Vicky,
This is the horse Mantle before the game, here at Pompano field.
Pompano Beach
2/18/1962

I'm guessing it's a term of endearment of sorts calling him a hardworker/fast runner. Or maybe they meant caballero which would be gentleman.

Very young Hank Sauer, either rookie or second year. And a similar 1941 or 1942 Reds multi member snap, not sure of any of the players shown. Cool shot, looks like it was taken in a church yard.

Great shots Lucas. Both are from spring training and the one on the left was taken at Plant Field in the Tampa while the one on the right was taken at Indiana University which is where the Reds trained a few years in the early 40's due to WWII.

This thread has been gone way too long!

This ones for the cubs superfans who want every cub ever.

A recent buy for my snap collection, Red Thomas who played 8 total games, all of them for the 1921 cubs. In his beautiful Cubs Sweater, love this one.

If I didn't collect Red Schoendienst, I would collect Gil Hodges. A great player and remembered by all as a phenomenal person. Gil is shown here Ca.1950 with a beaming smile.

Default Tom Terrific snappers

My good friend Tony Swann just gifted me these two great snappers of Tom Seaver from his stint with the White Sox in the mid-1980's.

The first one is from Camera Day and the second one is from a CWS Charity event.

RIP Tom Seaver

Default Ned Garver

Great pics! Here's Garver on 10-14-51. Defiance, Ohio honored him with a "Ned Garver Day." He won 20 games for a team that lost 102. Wonder if that's ever happened again?

Bumping the snap thread. I picked up this to go along with my other player owned business snaps. A wonderful shot of Mickey Mantle's Holiday Inn with two kids posing, one with a bat one with a glove. Ca.1960s. Mantle stuff is really crazy, even without Mick himself present. I probably paid more for it than a few deadball hof snaps I have. But I really enjoy player owned business shots. This one gets added to the list of which I now have- Stan Musial and Biggies Restaurant. Dizzy Deans Service Station. Joe DiMaggios Grotto. And now Micks Holiday inn.

I love that snapshot of Johnny Bench!

Here are three photos from a lot of 15 that I just picked up. They're not quite snapshots, but they don't look like news photos either. They appear to have been taken one afternoon in Briggs Stadium in 1943. The photographer, "RUBAN," imprinted his name on each. He was clearly on the field when he took the photos, and he knew what he was doing with a camera. They are roughly 3 1/2 inches by 4 1/2 inches. The right-handed batter above looks to me like Rudy York.

Its been too long again, nice shots everybody. I was bidding on a few of Scott Gaynors just now and got blown out on 5 lots on what I thought were pretty crazy strong bids. Snapshots continue to sell at amazing prices for nice shots. Being in the world of large type 1 news photos and snapshots I can say for certain snapshots are selling for much more at this moment. Of course depending on the photo but in general this is the norm.
Ps: If you won the lot with Aaron batting and want to sell the two of Red please reach out.

Now a contribution:
Group of Cubs On Catalina Island. The only one I can ID for sure is Joe Munson, far right (who's estate this came from). Naturally I love the sweaters and setting. Walking around Catalina island after a day's training on the field no doubt felt like a fairy tale.

Love those Cubbie sweaters! Awesome snapshot, Lucas!

I was shut out on all the snappers that ended from that collections. Lots of rare rookies or even pre-rookie snapshots. Strong prices indeed.

Default The Shot

I posted this somewhere earlier this year. This is my grandfather's fan snapshot. One of the more well-known out there.

Now a contribution:
Group of Cubs On Catalina Island. The only one I can ID for sure is Joe Munson, far right (who's estate this came from). Naturally I love the sweaters and setting. Walking around Catalina island after a day's training on the field no doubt felt like a fairy tale.
Guy w the open sweater looks like Hack Wilson.

Totally agree on the prices. I was an underbidder on the Williams. I really did not expect it to go that high. The snaps in REA over the weekend also were very strong. Then there was the Jackie Robinson in LOTG a few weeks ago. Nosebleed inducing.

The guy with the open sweater appears to be the second-tallest man in the photo. Hack Wilson was 5'6". I doubt there were three teammates who were shorter than him, even in spring training. Joe Munson, the player on the far right, was 5'9".

Hadn't seen this one before. After Sadaharu Oh broke Hank Aaron's career home record on September 3, 1977, Aaron and his wife flew over to Japan to acknowledge the feat. This photo is from September 17, the day before Aaron officially congratulated Sadaharu Oh during a pre-game event. In this photo taken at the Tokyo Hotel, Aaron's wife Billye is just to the left. Sadaharu Oh's batting style was often described as a "flamingo-style" of batting (he always had his one leg raised before stepping into his swing), so of course Hank Aaron gave Oh a gift of a stuffed and mounted flamingo!

Default 1973 Vida Blue snapper w/ vintage signature

Here is a recent addition to my no-hit pitcher collection of snapshots.
Great action shot of Vida Blue in 1973 spring training.
Bonus points for also having a great vintage signature from the day after the photo was taken.

I am 99% sure it's 1925 spring training, Hack joined the team in 26 so unfortunately I don't believe it's him.

I say that because of this snap that was in the same lot. Joe after he caught a fish on the island. He is in a 1924 flannel. Which would make sense for 25 spring training. Looks like he walked the plank to make the catch. The fish is somewhat translucent so you have to kind of focus your eyes.

Keeping with the topic, I think this is one if my favorite snaps I own.

These are great, I especially like the CPB and JJ. After watching there will always be light shining somewhere and seeing them talk. Super.

Been a bit since this thread has been updated.

Here's a snap I thought was pretry cool despite the fact the player is unidentified. The note on the back really makes it.
