Default Help IDing this issue

Hey All:

I recently picked up an item I had never seen before. Can anyone help with any info about it.

It measures 6 1/2" x 8" is blank backed. The autograph appears to be original and not printed on the photo.

The paper stock is similar to the Wilson Advisory photos/Dixie Premiums.

The words at the bottom say: ALVIN DARK -- courtesy of SPORTS ILLUSTRATED and J&F.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Fred

Did you pick it up from the original owner?

Any chance the original owner was in education?

I don't know about that exact item, but SI would do a hospitality room at some education conventions. Secondary school principals for sure. In the 70's/early 80's the handout to get autographed was a panel with photos of the three athletes they had there that night.

So maybe a similar thing from earlier or a different event when they only had him there?

That's about as close a guess as I've got.

As a long shot you could contact SI. They seem to have a decent dept for their own history and might know.

Hi Steve:

Thanks for the reply. I got it in an auction, so no help there. I did not know SI had a "history" department. Guess it can't hurt to try to contact them.

Just strange no one else here has or has seen this or any others.

Fred
