I'm a big fan of Goo Gone (citrus based) and use it for sticker removal all the time. Peel off as much of the sticker paper as you can and then just a squirt onto a cotton ball will take care of the rest.

Anyone ever try Goo Gone for card backs that had been pasted onto a page, then taken off and retained some of the paper?

Goo Gone can really stain paper depending on the stock. I wouldn't recommend it. I have had success using lighter fluid in certain paper on paper circumstances, but have never tried it on a baseball card.

Shawn and Matt are correct. Goo Gone is the best product in this case. Be sure to get that exact brand though. There are some sound-a-likes (Goo-f Off) that are petrolium based and really stink up the place.

Why go out and buy when you have the remedy. Vegetable oil. It's in the cupboard above the toaster.

Goo-gone works well but your slab will smell like it's spent a week in the Carribean when you finish. If you love the smell of lemons, you'll love this stuff.

My wife is an avid scrapbooker. One product that she swears by, Scrapper's Solution, is an all purpose adhesive remover. It works well on slabs.

I just use a little cooking oil. You don't need the extra virgin here.

Remove all the paper you can, and rub a little onto the sticky spot, and let it sit for about 20 minutes. Give a rub with a paper towel, and it will usually wipe off. You may need to repeat for a bigger bunch of sticky stuff.

Not as fast as the citrus stuff, but you don't need anything you don't already have.

Vaseline works in much the same way.

I wonder if naphtha would work. I know it's used by a lot of music techs to de-moof old instruments, especially guitars which often have plastic parts. The main advantage is that it evaporates quickly. Trying a number of substances out on old slabs would be a safe way to test.

I just wish Mile High would put the card in a plastic sleeve before they plaster their sticker on the dang thing. I poked at the corners a bit and there is no getting that thing off without a real mess.

I wrap some around a finger and then apply to the sticky area, then pull/rip up. Repeat until all goo is gone. No chemicals or oils necessary.

I use grape cool aide. Just submerge the slab completely into a pitcher of Grape Cool Aide. Keep in mind that it MUST be Cool Aide brand mix with the big Cool Aide guy on the front of the package. Those other knock- off brands could deteriorate the plastic over time. Also you must use GRAPE. Cherry, Lime or any other flavor will stain the plastic! Good luck. Let me know how it turns out!

I use lighter fluid. It works great. The only problem that I have ever had was with the back of the old PSA cards that had the white on the outside of the plastic will smear.
