Default Hake's Auction #207 Now Online-Negro & Cuban League Rarities And Much More...

Hake’s Americana & Collectibles Auction #207 Now Online And Open For Bidding at www.hakes.com.

Hake's has been the premier source for Pop Culture and Americana since 1967 and in recent years has offered some of the rarest and most sought after baseball items including those pertaining to the Cuban and Negro Leagues.

Hake's is in the midst of its 207th auction which closes November 13-15, 2012. Participation is online via Hake’s website - www.hakes.com with real time bidding or by using our 400+ page gorgeous full color catalog of nearly 3,000 items in 200+ collecting categories.

The current auction is once again highlighted by baseball items from the Richard Merkin Collection. In a recent auction, the 1910 Punch Cigarros “Pop” Lloyd baseball card from this collection sold for a world record price of $94,875.

Auction #207 has more baseball cards, designated by SGC with “The Richard Merkin” pedigree. These include 1909 Cabanas Owen Bush and Matty McIntyre; 1910 Punch Chief Binder, Danny Murphy, Charley O’Leary, Ed Willett, Valentin Gonzalez, Carlos Moran and Eleodoro Hidalgo; 1923-24 Tomas Gutierrez Alejandro Oms and Oscar “Heavy” Johnson; 1924-25 Aguiltas John Henry Lloyd and Alejandro Oms; 1926-27 Aguilitas Alejandro Oms; 1949-50 Acebo Y Cia Ray Dandridge/Quincy Trouppe pair and a 1924 Crescent Ice Cream near set. A few other cards from outside the Richard Merkin Collection include a 1924-25 Aguiltas Biz Mackey and a 1932 Doble Aquila #304 Magallanes vs. Concordia card featuring Martin Dihigo.

Other stand-out items (many from the Richard Merkin Collection) include: a real photo postcard featuring Negro League Cuban X-Giants with Grant “Home Run” Johnson; an early 1920s Santa Clara Leopardos team photo with Oscar Charleston and Alejandro Oms; a 1926 Kansas City Monarchs Broadside with team photo; the first issue of Colored Baseball & Sports Monthly; a Pittsburgh Crawfords portion of a 1935 Negro League Broadside; a 1923-24 Habana Lions real photo postcard with Pop Lloyd; an amazing 1926 panoramic photo featuring a historic Philadelphia Royal Giants line-up; a 1902 Ohio Wesleyan team photo with HOF member Branch Rickey; a 1932 World Series program; a rarely seen Jackie Robinson wristwatch; a Cuban League real photo postcard with Martin Dihigo and Jud Wilson and so much more.

Autographed items authenticated by JSA and/or PSA include: signed bats, balls, photos, prints and books for the likes of Ted Williams, Connie Mack, Casey Stengel, Babe Herman, Paul Waner, George Sisler, Rogers Hornsby, the first Commissioner of Baseball Kenesaw Mountain Landis, Willie Mays, Charles Gehringer, Warren Spahn, Bob Lemon, Robin Roberts, Joe Sewell, Duke Snider, Johnny Mize, Jim "Catfish" Hunter, Mickey Mantle, Al Kaline, Tony Oliva, Harmon Killebrew, Bob Feller, Whitey Ford, Brooks Robinson, Larry Doby, Yogi Berra, Sandy Koufax, Eddie Mathews, Don Drysdale, Stan Musial, Nolan Ryan, Don Mattingly, Reggie Jackson, Dave Winfield, Pete Rose, Barry Bonds and a 1996 World Series Champions Yankees team-signed ball with 23 signatures. A few true highlights include a Babe Ruth signature which has a wonderful backstory, a Martin Dihigo signed photo, a 300 Win Club ball signed by eight HOF members and a Hank Aaron signed “714” game ball.
