Keith, great pick up. Photos of this vintage from the midwest are extremely tough. That size of mount is unusual as well. |

You might send a scan to the U of Iowa baseball or athletic department site. They might post it on the site or include in a school publication and give you photo credit. College newsletters and magazines enjoy using historical pics and the publication might raise the sale value. |

Thanks guys. I thought the size was unusual as well. It is 13 inches by 7 3/4 inches. I will contact the University shortly as well. |

Another quick question for you guys. Even though I love the look of this photograph, it still is baseball and my true collecting focus is on 19th century football. I will probably move this photo at some point. If I opt to move it, where do you think I would be best served? B/S/T , ebay , REA , Hunts? Any idea of value of an item like this if I get in the right auction? |

It's oversized and a Big Ten school, plus you say it's been noted and signed by one of the players. I don't think Mastro or Hunt's would take it, but you could ask. By the photo alone I would say they wouldn't, but that it's a memento of one of the players might change their mind. I've never seen an 1800s U of Iowa baseball photo before, and in general 1800s team photos of major school baseball teams are scarce. That yours was owned and signed by a player only makes it rarer and adds value. In an another thread about the Andover photo, I mentioned that an oversized team photo was often given to a player-- and this is an example of an oversized team photo that belonged to a player. |

Clint, I knew I'd seen that photo recently...It shows up in my "Nebraska baseball" search as one of the players is from Kearney, NE. This guy has listed this photo before. |

This was the same seller who sold me the original. When I bought the original he asked me if I wanted that photo as well in addition to a bunch of football photos, but all of the other photos were reproductions. |
