Default Late October/Early November Pickup Thread

No pickup thread? Well, I normally am on the BB boards but in filling in some Topps types this weekend, I picked this beauty up-one of the nicer cards I've ever seen. I also met the dude once at Giants training camp and his name has always been one of the first I think of when it comes to Big Blue.

Thanks, I previously had no interest in this set, but a family member gave me a stack of them in pretty good shape. The more I looked at them the more they grew on me, so I've started to send them in to SGC. It's really been fun, which is the way it should be.

The 1969 set is a different looking set from a visual standpoint, which makes it very unique.

PS Does anyone else think the Czonka rookie card makes Larry look like Colonel Flagg from the old M*A*S*H show?

A few more.

I saw the Namath card first and thought some kid had cut the borders off and ruined a valuable card.

Default Rookie HOF

I think the 1968 Champion Cornflakes would really be considered Czonka's rookie card...but its so difficult to obtain most people consider the 1969 Topps. Why not create a rookie HOF set with the really tough cards in them. For instance, 1967 Royal Castle Dolphins is much much rarer than the 1968 Topps Griese. Or maybe the 1928 Star Player Candy Red Grange card. I think the objective of these sets is to have people grade and build sets that are obtainable in the realtively short term, but not necessarily the "Best".
