I have just liberated a T206 Addie Joss batting from the Abu Ghraib of card holders, the GAI holder. Ol' Addie was a vg 3 card but has new chips on the top and bottom borders where the GDMF GAI holder was mis-sized and allowed the card to slip around.

The prison break took all of two minutes. I held the card holder in one hand and cracked all around it with a pliers, then snapped off a few shards of side, slipped a flat edge screwdriver between the two pieces of plastic and started twisting my wrist. A few twists and Addie was free.

Addie will be transferred to a new, more humane facility shortly.

But did you make Addie bark like a dog first?

I like to sit outside, drink beer and yell at people. If I did this at home I would be arrested, so I go to baseball games and fit right in.

You KNOW I'm not going to let an opportunity to say something vaguely political pass by--won't rub it in(to anybody), though.

Anyway, I have to do that with all GAI and Beckett holders. I'm sure it's dangerous as hell, but so far, nobody has gotten injured from flying plastic, or even from stepping on the tiny chips, weeks afterward.

Stan was liberated from a GAI 6 holder (he currently resdides in Mylar, a refugee center in Northern California; Bonds is just along for the ride.

I remember many months back when I posted here to tell the tale of dissatisfaction when some of my graded cards came back from GAI bouncing around in the holders and a few posters took me to task and said THEIR'S always fit snuggly and had no problems. So, I shut up for a while but now this board is replete with stories of floating, bouncing and creeping cards in their holders. What the heck is going on at GAI? Surey there have been complaints and surely they could easily fix things. I like the holders and the way the cards are presented and although I grumbled at the grades, they seemed to be fairly consistent.
Anyone have a clue what is going on there?

and I'm sure Shoebox would never sell a graded card that they felt was either poorly housed or poorly graded. Both were 6s, and I was more than satisfied with them. (still cracked 'em out, though)
