Added a couple of circa 1910 Nippon China dishes with catcher figures. Make interesting companion pieces to the German dishes with catcher figures from the same time period.

They do look superimposed, but I think the hats are real and just colorized. Here's a link to a similar uncolored photo where the hats look real.

In my years of collecting old caps (pre-1980), I had only found one game-issued example from the Rochester Red Wings (late 1940s). A couple weeks ago, I found two from separate sellers on eBay — about five minutes apart. The first one pictured here is from 1956-60 and was made by New Era, and the other is from 1965-71 and was made by Rosenstein and Sons, which was based in Rochester.

Great additions to your great hat collection, Chris!

Off topic: you have a lot of clover in your grass. Is that on purpose? I know they harvest micro clover sod now. Clover will supposedly grow in areas that are tough to grow grass. I tried in in my yard, but it didn’t “take.” I work at a golf course and we have areas where the clover is THICK!

The lawn predates me, so I'm not sure what's in it. There seems be quite variety of weeds in there. I have mow it constantly because some of them grow so quickly.

Well there must be a 4-leaf Clover hidden in there somewhere! What good fortune to find 2 such beautiful examples so close together. First time I have seen either example. Congrats Chris!

I’ve been looking for these ceramic Gunner mugs (it’s an illness) for many years. I’m pleased to finally find them in such nice condition.

Thanks Mike and Rob. I believe they were created by the Post Gazette as they are similar in design to a few plates I have in my collection that were sold by the Gazette. I have always assumed they were released between 1970-73. I have a matching Chicken on the Hill plate. I have never seen matching plates for the other two. Bob Prince vintage memorabilia is tough to find. I’d love to find one of his zany sports coats.

So, Bob Prince is…a broadcaster? Who’s the chicken on the hill? And what’s the significance of a gnat’s eyelash? Some of us only know the early 70’s Pirates in broad terms.

Very excited to get this piece of Forbes Field!!! This is what people describe as one of “cornerstone” pieces from the exterior of Forbes Field. These were above the arched windows and only a handful of these survived. There’s two complete sections that are in the National Ballpark Museum in Denver.

Picked up a small collection of dugout lineup cards from a fan who was at the games, and a larger collection from former umpire Tim Welke. Roughly 90 lineup cards combined with lots of cool ones.

Some of the highlights:

• 1973 World Series Game 1 - This was Willie Mays final ever start
• 1996 World Series Game 3 - This was the first Yankees World Series win of the most recent dynasty.
• 2 lineup cards where Griffey Sr and Jr played together.

Sorry Rob I assumed people knew who Bob Prince was. As you said he was the announcer for the Pirates for 28 years. He is a member of the HOF and was a Pittsburgh icon known for his rapid delivery and colorful descriptions such as the two featured on the mugs. These were known as “Gunnerisms”.

Willie Stargell owned a chicken restaurant named All Pro Chicken in Pittsburgh's Hill District. Whenever he homered, the person at the counter would get free chicken. Prince would say, "We need a homer here. Come on, Willie, spread some Chicken on the Hill."

In one particular game, Prince said that if Stargell hit a home run, everybody in the restaurant would get free chicken. Stargell did hit the home run, everyone got free chicken, and Stargell sent the bill to Prince.
