Default Do You Have Authentic Autographs that Look Fake?

A post in another thread prompted me to ask this: Do you have (and please post photos if possible) one or more autographs of sports stars that you obtained from them in person that you think true auto. experts would flatly reject because they are atypical?

Not that I have one personally but I'm sure, with how bad his sight is, toward the end of his runs at shows, Mays probably had a few bad signatures

Default Probably Many...

I've gotten thousands of signatures in person, and I'm sure I have many that TPAs would not pass. This in person ARod comes to mind from my collection:

Default Mays

And speaking of Mays...I got this signed at one of his final show appearances in 2011. Would it pass TPA? I dunno.

I have a Michael Jordan jersey that I obtained in person. My uncle did bodyguard work for him and I was able to secure about 20 autographs. I sent a bunch to PSA and all obviously passed except the jersey. I don’t know what to do?

As far as I can personally attest to, this is the most authentic Sandy Koufax ball there is. I know that because I handed it to him at spring training. But when I posted the ball on the site years ago after I got it people weren't sure it was real until I told them I was the one who got it signed:

I could probably attest to most modern signatures being virtually unreadable, so how would you ever know?

I think it's an interesting issue -- autographs you obtained in person and are happy to own and maybe cherish greatly but while knowing that others would doubt their authenticity.

I watch some of the Live Breaks on YouTube and I wonder why anyone would want to own autographs from today's players.

I have observed very few that are actually legible.

Makes me wonder how many of today's players can actually spell.

Agreed. I have no interest in owning a two letter squiggle that represents a name.

No one really takes pride in having nice signatures anymore. Combine that with the fact that we really don't teach cursive anymore, and we get modern auto's that look terrible.

I can't speak for every school system out there, but for a while in NY it wasn't taught at all and then the state left it up to the schools decision. I can't tell you how many times I started to write in cursive only to get mostly an entire classrooms worth of teenagers looking at me like I have five heads!

I'm kinda surprised that daily lessons aren't texted to the students.

trust me, during the height of the Pandemic, some of them were. Most of them are very proficient typers, I'll give them credit for that! And some of their knowledge with computers is incredible, I have students already knowing how to code, in various languages, at the age of 14! Blows me out of the water.

But I know more about Vintage Cardboard then they do, so who's the real genius here ?

Got this at a presser for the Klitschko fight here in Los Angeles. He was wearing wraps at the time.

My Spahnie from his last public signing at Cooperstown shows the effects of his age (he would pass away within 12 months)

That little squiggle above his name is a real Ali autograph. My wife let me spend $800, yes $800, for a private signing about a year before he passed away. There is a PSA witmessed sticker on the back of the front page. All the rest except Russell were IP. Russell was a send in to one of Altman New England shows.

But so cool that you got the signature. An extremely underappreciated player.
