Default Netflix TV Show - The Queen's Gambit

If anyone hasn't seen this show, I highly recommend it. Watched it out of the blue before I read any reviews. Was pleasantly surprised.

Loved it. "Hoosiers" for the endgame crowd.

I just wish it had some gratuitous nudity. (The women, not the Russian grandmasters.)

Agreed, one of my top 10 books of all-time. Loved the casting and it's a gorgeous film aesthetically. I didn't even mind the few times they went off script from the book. I was excited a couple years ago when it was going to be a movie. Heath Ledger purchased the rights and was going to make his debut as a director with Ellen Page in the lead role. This was right before he passed away so the project went back in the pile of to-dos, I guess. I think it works better as a series, 7 hrs to tell a story vs. 2 hrs.

Oh, and Bruce Pandolfini and Garry Kasparov were technical consultants on the series if you're concerned about the accuracy of the chess.

Well, they did a phenomenal job. They aren't too many chess movies out there. As far as tackling tournament play, I imagine this one is one of, if not the best.

"Searching for Bobby Fischer" was my favorite until this one.

Best thing I've watched in a very very long time. Riveting. Sorry to see it end.

Absolutely loved it. I know next to nothing about chess, and I still enjoyed it. Might have to pick it up as a hobby!

I mentioned Bruce Pandolfini in my post above, that is Ben Kingsley's character in "Searching for Bobby Fischer". Seems Chess is a pretty small world.
