Born on this date 104 years ago today was the man who ranks 23rd in career batting average(.330)among guys with over 5000 at-bats. Manush batted over .300 in 11 of his 15 full seasons including twice hitting .378 and one of those years he missed,he hit .298 while finishing 2nd in triples and scoring over 100 runs.He twice led the league in doubles,once in average,twice in hits, once in triples and 6 times scored over 100 runs.4 times he finished top 5 in the mvp voting. |

I'm at work and don't have a picture handy, but I can tell you I appreciated his talent a while ago, so I grabbed my Heinie at a Gloria Rothstein show back in 1997. |

My youngest daughter's favorite ballplayer! She always found that name hilarious! She still does (she is 35 yrs. old). Yikes, how can that be? She is almost older than me. |

Here's a cancelled check from 1970, he died the next year. He was inducted in 1964, 25 years after he retired. |
