Default March 2010 Pickups

It is couple of hours early but picked up this 52' bowman Mantle up over the weekend. I have been searching for an affordable 52' bowman for quite some time and finally got one for a decent price. very happy with it

That's a really solid looking card for a PSA 1. Congratulations on the great card!

Just got this in-from the 1967 Topps SF Giants disc set:

These are harder to find the the "regular" 67 discs, which are no picnic. I now have both 67 types and a 68-hooray!

Depending on how bad the crease is, I believe you can get up to a 50 or 60 from SGC. The creasing on the Ryan RC does not penetrate to the back of the card and does not take too much away from its appearance.

From the SGC website regarding the "40" grade:

90/10 or better centering, corners more rounded--but not excessive, stronger creasing may exist. Poorer focus, registration, and discoloration, and staining are more noticeable.

Man that berra is sweet!! May I ask why you sent it to beckett?

I've decided to focus on mantle and berra cards for my collection.. And that thing is just lovely. nice pick up.

Here are my march pickups.. And prob. the only for @ least few months..

In general, I try to have everything in my collection graded and Beckett is the only grading company that makes a holder large enough for the Berra. Everything I have has either been graded by SGC or Beckett except for a few items which are too large for even their largest holders.

Went to a toy & comic show a couple of weeks ago and one guy had an open container of '61 Topps cards, all in individual sleeves. They were the only cards in the place. He had $2.00 each marked on the container so I naturally grabbed a handful and had a look. Not a lot of big names, mostly commons with HOF'ers Robin Roberts and Dick Williams and some semi-stars like Billy Pierce and Joe Adcock, but I was struck by the beautiful condition of the cards. They were pretty well all in EX-MT. He had 79 in total so I asked him how much for the lot. He said $80. I said I'll think about it. I left the show and came back knowing I had to make an effort to get his cards. I was going to offer $60 but at the last moment I decided on $40 and he took it. I don't usually buy card lots but I was thrilled to get those beauties for 50 cents a pop.
