Default 1939 Gridiron Greats George Gipp - Are these tough to find?

I recently purchased a 1939 Gridiron Greats Blotter of George Gipp graded a 3.5 by Beckett. Doesn't really matter as I've already purchased it and like it, but I haven't been able to find much information about these cards nor seen many sell in the past from internet searches, so I am curious.

Are these relatively tough?

I paid $330 or so after tax. Did I do good, bad, or as expected for a 3.5?

(My pics are too big to post so sorry, no pics)

Thanks,

Mike

Yes, difficult to find for sure. Did you get this one off eBay. If so, saw that posted recently but I already have it so passed on bidding.

I think the price was good. But these ink blotters definitely fall into the category of something that is very rare but not in demand.

But I can't resist them!

Hi Jeff,

Yes, I got it off ebay. I'm a Notre Dame nut and Gipp fan. Don't know much at all about football cards. Was pleased to see a Gipp piece that old. Most of his other cards I have seen are literally 1989 and up.

Very nice piece. I agree with Jeff, the demand isn't there so prices remain lower. The seller had this listed twice, for $500 and $400 before you bought it, so the $300 seems fair.If you're happy with it, its all that matters.
