I was not the winner on this but was curious as the board's opinion on the cards in this scrapbook:

First impressions: Other "scraps" look brand new while cards have rounded corners . . . corners are too perfectly rounded . . . cards look too clean for the wear . . . scraps don't seem to be chronologically contemporaneous to one another.

I say "bogus"! But then again, what do I know?

The first thing I noticed is that the Goudey Ruth seems quite a bit smaller than the Allen & Ginter. That's not right.

For what it's worth, the Schell beer can came out in the late 1970s. Everything looks like magazine clippings to me.

The Ruth is too little. The Baker is the wrong color, regardless of whether it is a blue or black back. I vote for bogus.

Ordinarilly (which means not always), the items on a scrapbook page date to the same time period. The little 1887 girl glued her 1887 scrapps, trade cards and picutures to the scrapbook page. Naturally, the first page from the girl's scrapbook may have items years older than on the last page.

I bring this up, because Mickey Mouse was created over forty years after the Allen & Ginter King Kelly.

If this scrapbook was indeed the creation of an innocent young lass, I would say guess that the girl is currently unhappy that summer vacation is about to end.

I once bought on eBay a Victorian scrapbook that included a near set of those 1890s Spalding Die-Cuts (including baseball player and football player). The scrapbook was the creation of a little Victorian girl named Annie, and the pages were otherwise filled with littel die cuts and cards of angels, princes, horses, ballerinas, flowers and such. It's surprising she included the baseball and football player.

Don't know about her parents, but Annie's scrapbook was damn cute.
