I wanted to ask a question/make a comment about a couple recent posts on the b/s/t. One was by Dan K and the other by Bruce. When someone is asking about purchasing a card at a certain price, is it appropriate for people to respond with "you will never find a card at that price" or comments to the like. If someone were asking what the market value was or something like that, then maybe, but otherwise why do people have to put a negative spin on a simple wanted post. I find people who insist on doing this simply want to hear themselves talk so to speak, but other than that it serves no positive value. If anything, it is a negative hijack of a perfectly simple post. Everyone, at times, lists cards for sale over the market, should we then berate them every time for trying to sell something higher than the current market. I dont know, I just dont enjoy seeing people post in other threads that basically demean someone else's simple request.

Just wondering if my sentiments are too sensitive or if others feel that way too, and if so, maybe we could delete posts that serve no purpose but to embarass or demean the poster for asking for a specific card at a specific price. Heck, I thnk its great, all the info is plain to see and reduces long negotiations.

Rob

there's enough negative energy out there in the great wide world, we don't need unsolicited commentary of that type.

And heck, what if the guy DOES find the cards at the price he was hoping for?
Then he has the legitimate option of getting on the Board and bragging about it, and that would start a flame war, or whatever they're called...

It was a creative way to brag about having 22 Cobb cards, though, huh?

Edited to add:
DeadballPaul, how many are there in your group these days? Hadn't realized you had incorporated - Congrats!

Edited to add: You know, another thought is that it needs to be kept in mind that when you have 22 of something, you certainly want the unit price to be higher rather than lower, for the purposes of the positive leverage on your collection value.

I agree. Especially when you're posting an opinion. Those cards can be found at those prices if you're persistent. I bought the Cobb Jamie posted the link to and I'm very pleased with what I got at that price.

My understanding is that such commentary is supposed to be against forum rules.

"the deadballpaul group" - LOL.

In general there are rules against interference on the BST pages. You really should only comment if you have something the original poster wants or you are trying to help. I did comment this morning in response to another comment made and felt the additional comment from the other poster was hypocritical. If you aren't helping in the transaction, or a part of it, then you should stay out of it. Jokes with good friends are ok though.....I think we know the difference. If you don't know the difference then don't post. I know Rob and I were heckling Jeff L a little but we are good friends and it was very benign.....Again, I think the intelligence of this group can see what is going on....regards

ps...and what is up with the red x's for graphics on the forum?

edited to correct myself....it wasn't the original poster I had an issue with...it was the Inflatable Group

There are many posts on BST that seem outrageous, with sellers sometimes asking crazy prices for cards. But it is unacceptable to interfere with a transaction.
