Default Clean Sweep Auction ending this evening 1/28/2015

In appreciation for Clean Sweeps advertising on Net54baseball I want to remind our members that their auction closes this evening. Here is their recent email-

Clean Sweep has a great auction closing TODAY Wednesday January 28. Initial bids must be placed by 6 PM EST TODAY; please note bidders who bid on 10 or more lots can bid on any lot at any time. Lots without bids can be bid on at any time.

We have many new bidders for this auction, we highly recommend that all new bidders review this email carefully and also our auction rules as they are different from ebay and other hobby auctions.

As usual, there are many big numbers so far thanks to a record amount of early bidding but there are still some great deals left in autographed photos, baseball memorabilia, baseball card sets and singles and autographed baseballs. This is truly an auction worth reviewing in full as it is absolutely one of our very best auctions ever, a detailed description follows below.

Catalogs can be viewed as a PDF file on our home page:

Please keep the following in mind when bidding today:

(1) The ten minute rule will kick in at 11 PM EST. In the event the auction goes as late as 1:30 AM EST, there is a 5% late night bidding supplement for NEW bids placed after that time (this does not apply to max bids placed up to 1:29 AM); at 2:30 AM, the supplement is 10%. THE ENTIRE AUCTION ENDS AT THE SAME TIME.

(2) Bidders who bid on 10 or more lots can bid on any lot at any time. Lots without bids can be bid on by anyone at any time.

(3) We do offer callbacks on lots above $200, please call 516 338 8557 to set these up if desired.

(4) There are no tie bids, one cannot bid $100 with a max of $110, the max would need to be $121 (the bid tracker spells out the increments).

(5) Invoices are emailed at the end of the auction. Paper invoices will mail tomorrow.

If you have any questions about maximum bids or any of our other rules, please call or email us during the auction as issues cannot be resolved once the auction has closed. As long as the auction is live, we are available with telephone support and for phone bidding. Please always be sure to check your email for outbid notices and also check your bid tracker and/or call us because email is not 100%; max bids are never a guarantee of a winning bid while the auction is still live.

Thanks much,

Steve Verkman

Always buying and accepting consignments for auction.

Checking in at over 900 lots, this is one of the very biggest auctions of this kind that we have ever run. We want to of course thank our many loyal consignors for making this possible. This auction is our most balanced ever, with terrific selections of baseball graded cards, complete sets, autographed flats, autographed baseballs and perhaps our best selection ever of baseball memorabilia.

The auction begins with a huge run of 309 lots of graded single cards. This section includes some prewar rarities, several new T204 Ramlys including key HOFers, a good selection of T206s including three Ty Cobbs, two of which are 5s, and some rare backs. There is also a very nice M101-5 Shoeless Joe Jackson in an SGC 5. For post-war collectors, we have a large collection of PSA 8 Rookie Cards and stars, all fresh to market, assembled ungraded by a collector with a great eye. We have a 1952 Topps Mantle in a nice SGC 2 along with the other key high numbers. There is a brand new 1969 Topps Super set, recently graded, with a staggering 29 PSA 10s! Baseball card sets and lots include a full N28 Allen & Ginter, a collector grade near-set of 1933 Goudey, some very high grade Topps sets from 1961 – 1967 and some large lots of original Topps artwork from the 1980s.

Baseball autographs come next, also with 300 lots, a veritable auction unto itself. We start with autographed cards, including signed very-near Topps sets from 1974 and 1980 – 1982. One of the real high points of this auction is a truly remarkable collection of signed photos, almost all collected by a single owner for decades with a great eye. His focus was signed photos, especially 8x10s, and he really acquired some great pieces with signed 8x10s of Baker, Cobb, Foxx (Burke), Klem, Lajoie, Rickey, Ruth and so much more. There also many terrific lots of 8x10s from this collector. Collectors of 3x5s and cuts will see a fine run of 1927 Yankees autographs with the rarities, two Mint Babe Ruth autographs,
a Christy Mathewson check and an amazing 1994 pre-Rookie Derek Jeter signed contract.

Collectors of single signed baseballs will see a rare 1930s Earl Averill, Nestor Chylak, a very nice Jimmie Foxx, an affordable true Lou Gehrig single and 15 lots of single signed baseballs that are bursting with value. Collectors of team and multi-signed balls will see a Ruth/Gehrig ball, an incredibly rare 1921 Yankees ball, 1927, 1933, 1937 and 1942 Yankees balls and a world class 1955 Dodgers ball.

Presidential autographs include a James Madison signed Ship’s Papers document, a fine Grant document and a great Teddy Roosevelt ALS as President complaining about doctors. Entertainment includes a fine fully signed Beatles piece and many fun pop culture pieces.

The other sports contain an interesting selection of mostly cards and autographs. Football contains a good run of 1950s and 1960s sets and two great early 1960s Green Bay Packers signed items with Vince Lombardi.

The auction ends very well with baseball memorabilia. Bats include single signed examples from DiMaggio and Mantle, a Derek Jeter gamer and Willie Randolph’s 2,000th hit bat. Rings include a real 1981 Yankees World Series and all four of Keith Hernandez’s All Star rings. We have a Pete Rose game used glove from 1970, many rare vintage pins, our best selection ever of quality 1960s bobbin head dolls and Kenesaw Mountain Landis’s wedding invitation from 1894.
