Default The Unofficial Quote Poll

Since the use of quotes are the topic of the day, I thought it would be fun to have an unofficial poll.

I don't mean to be a Barry here, but did anyone notice that the percentages don't add up to 100?

This is a Chicago Democratic election Jeff. You can vote for as many things as you want.

Besides, 70% of the time percentages are way overated.

Edited for clarification: As of now, 14 people have voted 16 times. 16 divided by 14 equals 114.29%.

Craig set this poll up to allow respondents to select multiple answers if they want. For those UI software programmers out there (anyone?) that's why it displays checkboxes instead of radio buttons for the selections.

Wouldn't the radio buttons work best to keep it simple? I'm not sure if I can handle making more than one choice.

I never noticed a problem. I don't know how my sentiment should vote in this poll.

I vaguely remembered the quote PolarBear posted above, but it took a while (and a bit of Googling) for me to place it. Am I on the road to becoming a dinosaur? Please direct me to the nearest tarpit!

Default Highschool English

Quote is a verb. Quotation is a noun. e.g. I quoted so-and-so and it is that quotation to which I now refer. Sloppy grammer has given "quote" a secondary meaning as the noun form (see above).

If you want to state it properly, the question would be "what is your opinion about the use of quotations?" Alternatively, "what is you opinion about quoting someone?"

Feel free to quote me on this.

Default for me

For me, almost 100% of the time I hate correcting a mistake with a misteak. Then the other 50% of the time I don't really care.

My recollection is that about 150 years ago, one county in Kentucky had 143% of their registered voters vote in an election...

This must be a Fox "no spin" poll, given the unbiased non-leading way in which the categories were described. All in fun!!!

Yogi Bera is famous for his malaprops and verbal bloopers.
Here is one I particularly like.
When asked about frequenting a certain New York nightclub he replied:

"No one goes there anymore...it's too crowded!"

And during his run for the senate (I think 1958), JFK said the following at a dinner regarding rumors his father was buying the election:

"I have just received the following telegram from
my generous daddy. It says, 'Dear Jack: Don't buy a
single vote more than necessary. I'll be damned if I'm
going to pay for a landslide."
