Default O/T Can a Serious Miscut Add Value to a Card?

Posted By: Matt E.

Recently on the board there was a post of a tobacco card that was so miscut it was pretty cool. Thought I would post this image of a miscut card along with the one that followed it on the sheet. Am I mistaken or is it unusual to see the two parts together. Too bad I couldn't find the one above Mickey. Makes me dizzy looking at them.

Leon, please delete if too OT and I will move it to the appropriate area.

Thanks, Matt

Matt- I assume you found these at the same time. I would guess that a miscut like this would add value to a common, but detract from a Mickey Mantle.

I'd be tempted to get those to someone who could cut that Mantle part off of Ashburn, and see about making you a whole card, there. Then take the offending top bit off of Mantle, and patch that onto Ashburn, albeit mismatched.

I'm not saying to sell the results as unaltered. But realistically you have an entire Mantle card, he's just it 2 pieces.

It would be easy enough to locate the card above Mickey, buy one & cut it to fit!

Matt, I think those are awesome (such a ninety's word).
Should one assume they came in a pack together and have been kept by the same owner all this time.......because now THAT'S a collector.
Brilliant!

Daniel
