I put in about 121 different bids yesterday in Mastro...I am still high on 20 and expect to go strong on 1-2....but at least one of those could be fairly large (for me). In REA I have about 50 bids and might also go strong on 1-2...we'll see. I have priorities but if I tell then Dan S will know...and I wouldn't want that .. |

Just poking around Mastro and was amazed that the 15CJ Brown is already at $36K with the juice. |

I'm bidding on about 20 lots total from the two auctions; depending on how they shake out during extended bidding I would try to win anywhere from 1-6 lots. I especially hope to get into an unwitting and extended bidding war with Leon if fate will have it again. |

Sometimes I wonder why the big auction houses have their auctions right after April 15; everyone thinks that they do this because tax refunds have arrived. I can tell you that April 15 is the most painful day of the year for me financially as it is the day I must make first quarter estimated payments and also make up any tax shortfall from the previous year (which seems to always happen). I think if the auctions were in January I'd be more likely to spend like a drunken sailor. |

I don't know how many I have bid on. I am actively monitoring about 9 and will go strong on 2-3. |

To Jeff's point... you can add on Property Tax. The two states I've lived in (WA and CA) both have Property Taxes due on April 30. I assume this applies to some other states as well. This is a big hit for me, anyway... |

Whoever originally came up with the idea requiring bidders to have bid on a lot in order to bid on a lot during its extended bidding period is a pure genius of capitalism. Look at how many of us have bid on auctions we have some interest on just so we don't get shut out at the end. Which of course drives up the price and pumps up the demand (wow, this lot has a lot of interest). Pure evil genius. |

I've bid on about 50 in each auction, but realistically I am only going to the mats (Godfather reference)on a couple in each auction. Brian P. is dead-on right, that "getting a qualifying bid in order to bid during the extended time period" was an act of pure genius and sends the prices soaring early. Bah humbug |

Looks like the guys here (including myself) have wisened up in the last 4-5 years. I remember when people came out and revealed what they were going after, etc. Now it is the code of silence except some collectors are known for collecting certain cards/series and you can always get a clue from that... |

Steve - I appreciate your frustration on the high straight bid, but I actually don't mind when that happens to me - if early on, someone posts a straight bid higher then I am willing to go, I have that much more time to re-allocate my funds over other lots. If someone is going to go higher then you were willing anyway, I'd rather know up front. |

That's a good point Matt and I wish the bidder all the luck in the world. The Lot, in my opinion, is probably one of the top three in both auctions. My initial estimate was for 2X what it sits at now. |

I am watching more than 100 lots and seriously considering about 20. In the end, the number will be far less, but I am keeping options open until I see where they are at near the end. There is a short list I am really hoping to win. |

Damn initial straight bids..... So far I am high on about 15 of the 111 I have bid on in Mastro and about 10-15 in REA.....I doubt I will stay high bidder on any of the ones I am high on now....except maybe 1 |

Two years ago I got an IRS audit. I owed a little bit as I honestly had sold some stock and didn't remember it. My cards on the other hand were all documented and flew through. Good records of buys and sells is what it takes.....The Man had no issue with my cards.... |

You know you're right. That one may hold up and if so what a steal. The initial straight bid was a strategic masterpiece. |
