Default 1970's photo used for disc michael schechter

i RECENTLY SHARED A PHOTO I HAD BOUGHT RECENTLY AND THOUGHT IT WAS USED ON SEVERAL 70'S DISC. I SENT IT TO PSA FOR AUTHENTICATION AND WANTED TO SHARE THIS. I HAVE ATTACHED A COPY OF THE PICTURE, THE PSA AUTHENTICATION AND A PICTURE OF A MSA WIFFLE BALL DISC.
FIRST IT WAS AUTHENTICATED AS A TYPE III. PSA SAID IT IS A PERIOD EXAMPLE THAT WAS MADE FROM A DUPLICATE NEGATIVE. THE PAINT ON THE AIRBRUSHED CAP IS EMBEDDED IN THE IMAGE. HOW INTERESTING.
SO, I CHECKED OUT MICHAEL SCHECHTER ASSOCIATES. APPARENTLY THEY ACQUIRED THE NECESSARY LICENSES FROM THE DIFFERENT PLAYERS UNIONS THAT GAVE PERMISSION TO USE THEIR IMAGES BUT NOT FROM THE LEAGUES SO THEREFORE THEY COULDN'T HAVE ANY LOGO'S ON THE DIFFERENT ITEMS THEY PRODUCED.
SO WITH HELP FROM FRIEND BENJAMIN WEINGARTEN HERE IS HOW IT MUST HAVE HAPPENED.
THEY PRINTED AN ORIGINAL PHOTO OFF THE ORIGINAL NEGATIVE
THEY TOOK THAT PHOTO AND "AIRBRUSHED" THE LOGO OFF THE HAT
THEY THEY MADE A DUPLICATE NEGATIVE FROM THAT PHOTO THEN
PRINTED FROM THE DUPLICATE NEGATIVE TO CREATE THIS PHOTO.
ALWAYS LEARNING

I believe that progression is correct.

The written note shows the next step. Once your photo was approved, they made a smaller negative and a print from that smaller negative. Probably to verify if it still looked ok small.
That smaller negative may have been used to make the mask for the black color plate.
The same thing would have been done for other sets that use the same image. I'm thinking it's the same one from the RC cola sets, and maybe others.
