I really like the super cool looking new super shiny cards. I just don't watch baseball so I don't know or care about the players on them. Plus the beyond silly prices for someone who may or may not ever play a pro game is mind boggling.

I haven't made custom cards in a while. When I was I enjoyed turning vintage cards of players I collect into modern shiny masterpieces.

Is there a rare jelly donut version? If so, I might have interest!

I got a Luis Robert Baby Shark RC for my grand-daughter last Christmas. Got to make sure she doesn't turn into a Cubs fan.

At that price you’d think it’d at least come with a piece of “clubhouse nibbled” donut

Or have the design in any way resemble a donut.

Just an ugly ugly card. Like it has mold or something that started to spread.

Kind of reminds me of an old Sportflics card that got caught out in the rain. And then left to dry on the counter for about a week.

The seller's description tells you all you need to know - "good for your sportscard portfolio". Sigh.

As to the Donruss RR card pictured above, I will never understand why cards without logos or even team names actually sell.

Unless there is a fire emoji in the listing of the card, I am out. I have the strange urge to break out my Kirby Puckett Fleer Update PSA 10 and bedazzle it with some glitter.

I used feel the same way until I purchased a large collection this year that had a amount of modern unlicensed included. They’re actually really great quality cards and other than a lack of logos they beat many Topps issues. Panini Select could be the cleanest base card in the baseball card market right now.

Here's one from the PC. It's a 2021 Donruss Optic Crisis parallel (apparently they're 1 per case) and yes, what you see are rolls of toilet paper.

This is exactly why I’m 100% done with new cards. I’ll buy packs here and there when I see them because my 12 year old likes them but I myself am done.

I bought a Jonathan India National Treasures auto booklet. I love this series and booklets. Topps really could easily copy this and produce some real chase cards. I also have a Big Klu booklet that is beautiful. Otherwise, I'm not into the base cards.

Not to give them any ideas, but the 2nd they figure out how to put blockchain code directly on the back of an attractive collectible hard copy card instead of a digital card, people are going to start losing their minds.

Hell, I'm sure they've already done it somewhere I'm not aware of.

I predict people will go nuts for these things.....at least until NFT's fully crash, and then they won't be much more then all those Collectible Phone cards they sold in the 80's and 90's.

I think that most people who collected in a simpler time are a bit put off by all the splashy, flashy stuff that is being put out now. When it was a rare for creativity in the 90s, there were some really neat items made with different materials, die cuts, foils, dufex, acetates, etc. Clearly, it just kept going until everyone was sick of just about every type of material or flair you could give a card.

I have no issues with new stuff. It can be very confusing if you are not actively keeping up with it. I am definitely not a fan of the unlicensed stuff w/o logos and teams, but that is an unfortunate reality of the market today. I have some of this stuff, but not a lot.

What I really notice is that a lot of newer collectors really get into the new stuff and some can/do appreciate the older "boring" stuff as well, but are a bit overly protective of the new stuff when anyone tries to bash it.

Case in point. I saw this on Pee Wee Reese cut on ebay and thought how a group on facebook called sportscard nonsense might appreciate the poor execution of what would otherwise have been a pretty neat card. I never said people wouldn't collect the card, but it's just an awful looking card! Perhaps the way I worded it could have been better, but it was said in jest (i suggested that the employee who thought this card was fine for release to the public as seen should have been fired, as finding 8 suitable Pee Wee Reese autographs in the early 2000s should not have been that tough). I expected at least the majority to agree that this was a FAIL on the part of UD.

However, after seeing the majority of people who commented thought NOTHING was wrong with this card, in fact many spoke to it's greatness in their opinion, i couldn't take it any longer. I had not been getting much out of this group anyway, but after that experiment, I just left the group. Clearly, we are not collecting the same way and that is fine, but I don't need the distraction of this group anyway.

I have always collected what interested me, with little regard for value. This has helped me in some cases and left me with gaps in my collection in other cases. I think others can collect what they like, but that doesn't mean we can't poke fun at things either from time to time.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. In my opinion, that card looks...

...

...like absolute trash!

The seller is legit. He ended the listing because he kept having to cancel bids from people who were not serious. He was posting to Blowout yesterday as all of this was going on. I believe he will send it to PSA and it will likely be in a Goldin auction soon.

Was it the Wander Franco Blue trophy card I can see when i click the link?

Sometimes ended auctions show up as different cards. I think sellers can relist things, but completely change the listing. I've found items that I made offers on that were not items I ever offered on. I assume they ended the item I offered on, relisted as something else, but it still shows I made an offer. Weird.
