Default Maris Signed Ball -Should I Get This Authenticated

This is a single-signed Roger Maris baseball from the late-'60's or early '70's. It belongs to my wife's aunt whose husband worked at a bank in south Kansas City. When he heard that Maris would be making an appearance at the bank, he drove down to the local Jerry's Sport Shop and purchased this ball for him to sign. The husband has since passed away and she is wanting to sell the ball to help with expenses. Obviously, authentication from a legit company would help its retail value; however, I'm not sure it would be much more than a wash, as the unauthenticated value, in my opinion is $250-300, tops. As you can see, the ball has condition issues and the signature is light. Any thoughts?

Why would you pay to have it authenticated when it would cost you more than the ball is worth.

Are you looking to sell it? If so, i would let it run on ebay and guarantee it passes psa/jsa or money back. It will sell for more than 250-300 i would guess.
