Wow, this in incredible! I'm wondering if this is the earliest full game broadcast that survives. Is this newly discovered? To hear these names is amazing.

No idea. I just stumbled upon it on Youtube.

And actually looks like it was discovered 2 years ago, as I found another Youtube channel that has had it longer:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mH7tFcAvfZI

Read the comments on it for some more info.

Also, if you click on PlayLists:

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCVS...medA/playlists

There are games from the Seattle Pilots, and numerous announcers etc. Good stuff to fall asleep too too!

What I loved about this is really the minutiae of it all. We look at these players with such reverence, in such an exalted light, not really understanding that although they are universally considered to be all-time greats, they were just sorta 'regular' (don't yell at me for using that word in this description) players in their time. They struck out, made errors, etc., as every player does today, and every player has always done. If someone told you they had an audiotape of a Babe Ruth game, you would immediately think he homered a couple of times and had a double or two while going 5 for 5. But reality sorta kicks you in the face, and you realize all of these HOF'ers had their daily ups and downs. Pretty cool.

I also love hearing Ki-Ki Cuyler's name pronounced so matter-of-fact correctly. Since we only see his moniker in writing, there's always someone nowadays saying, "Did you know his name isn't Kee-Kee, it's actually Kai-Kai as a play on his last name?" (And the people in the room grumble, "Yes, everyone knows that.") The announcers say "Kai-Kai Cuyler" in such a normal way, absent of anyone ever being surprised enough to say, "I thought his name was Kee-Kee?????!!!!"

Spelling "Yastrzemski" correctly without needing to look it up since the 1980s.
