Western Playground stock certificates- Note Book
Posted By: leon
Just picked up this nice ancillary item, to the H998 Western Playgrounds cards, a Bank Stock Note Book, by Mysell-Rollins Co (80% size here). I got it from another board member (and it was probably from a board member before him ). These stock certificates (cards) below were given one to a child every time a Bank Stock Note Book was bought. They were worth 7 cents and when sent in and added up, the teacher would get 5% of the face value towards playground equipment, hence the name "Western Playgrounds". So 1000 coupons would equal $70 and 5% of that would be $3.50, towards playground stuff. Since only (approx.)120 of these cards are known today, in total, either a lot were turned in and destroyed or the kids didn't care about helping a poor 'ole teacher out, or I guess the Note Books might not have sold well? ........regards |

Nice pickup, Leon. I showed a picture of your Miller card to my grand-father and he is quite certain that the player pictured on that card is not Frank Miller (his dad). |
