I'm a Seattle fan, as hard as it is this year, but Ichirio is really special. He now has 10+ at bats to beat the record.

Sisler's daughter is at the game in Seattle; she was interviewed and said that her dad would be really excited that someone would break his record.

he'll be going for that elusive .400 batting average...if he only had a decent april, this year.

I read somewhere (maybe on ESPN's website) that the Seattle batting instructor thought Ichiro should have more power instead of "just" hitting singles. So, during spring training and April, the instructor "worked" with him and that resulted in like a .255 average. When Ichiro went back to doing what he does best, use his speed, the hits started coming and the average crept up.

I would hate to guess but I think Ichiro might have hit .400 this season with about 280 hits if the "hitting instructor" would have just left him alone.
