I recently bought an unopened box of 1977 topps. Really more for the thrill of reliving opening the first cards i collected as a 7 year old.

Question is what to do with the 300+ cards from the wax packs i dont want ?

Ebay as a lot ? Or try posting on another site ? CU is out as i lost my posting privliges some time ago.

What do lots of fresh 77's go for ? I looked at completed auctions but really saw nothing else like this of late.

Really just out of my element

Leon,

If this is to off topic let me know and i will delete it.

List as a "Complete your 1977 Topps set" lot. Allow the winning bidder to choose the 50 (or other x) cards he or she wants from your full list. Do that a few times, then sell the rest off in a single lot. You're going to make very little money on these anyway, as I discovered after opening about 40 wax packs from the 70s, but you'll make a bit more if the winner has more choice.

I tried that a few years back with a bunch of 60's Topps. Listed 75 numbers and said "High bidder gets his/her choice of 25". Ebay bounced the listing as a violation of the rules.

I would say the best way is to list the whole lot on ebay and show a picture of them with the box and empty wrappers saying they are pack fresh. I'd save the wrappers and box too and put them with the cards if you don't want them.

Tobacco cards VBC Buy/Sell/Trade area.

Scott- just out of curiosity, how does one lose his posting privileges on the CU board?

I often get cards donated or given to the students in my classroom every year through various trading groups. I would look into donating them to a local children's hospital, boy scout troop, school, etc. Take the tax write-off and make some kids happy.

Joshua

PS The kids in my class are always wide-eyed when I say the cards are older than their parents. Later on I bring out an OJ and use it in a lesson about "days long ago" and how some things stay the same and some things change.

Scott- actually I've never even looked at the CU board, Net54 keeps me busy enough. I've heard rumors that they delete posts they don't like but don't understand why they ban people.

Barry it's simple if you persist in making too many posts they don't like, they ban you.

That comparison is unfair (to North Korea).

The box and wrappers themselves have some value.

If there are any screamers and you are a gambler, send them to PSA and hope for 9-10 for the registry freaks.

I am rebuilding the sets I had when I was a kid starting with the 73's and going until 79. If the price is right I would love to have them so I can rebuild my raw sets. THe funny thing is I never really gave much thought to this until I found out my 23 year old daughter and spouse are pregnant with our 1st grandson. (1st grandchild overall as well!) I thought maybe if the kid likes sports he might like the sets I had when I was a kid. Hey, I have no fortunes to hand down to him but I can help hime know how I spent my childhood and what the cards meant to me!!

Of course he might end up like his mom and not care less!! Oh well!

Whitehse, ect......

Email me privately if interested. I don't want to accept or talk selling on the main board.

I will respond to the others who have emailed. Just been busy with a closing and time's been limited.

aloof1003@comcast.net

Thanks,

Scott
