Default 1949 Bowman Set a Favorite

Posted By: barrysloate

Great to see the new forum has been launched!

When I first got into the hobby in 1982, the first "early" set I gravitated to was the 1949 Bowman set. I loved the color schemes, crude photos, variations, and just the overall look of the set. At that time, Ted Z. and his friend Ralph Triplette had written a great article on the mysteries of the set, pretty much laying out the 7 series by sheets and explaining those mysterious 12 that were reprinted with NOF and Print backs. I even went after the odd color variations, such as the slate backs.

It brings back great memories, and it was the beginning of my lifelong friendship with Ted Z. Anybody else love the set?
