Caramel Card question for gurus...

The "big book" says that:

E220 (National Caramel) was produced "circa 1921 to 1923"

E121 (American Caramel set of 80) was produced "circa 1921"

E121 (American Caramel set of 120) was produced "circa 1922"

E120 (American Caramel set of 240) was produced in 1922

E122 (American Caramel set of 80) was produced in 1922

SO....

MY QUESTION FOR THE GURUS:

Is there any particular set (or sets) out of these FIVE that is truly considered to be OLDER than the others... or are the all generally considered "simaltaneous" (for "rookie card" purposes, etc.)???

If they are NOT considered "simaltaneous"... can you please rank them from oldest to newest??

I am not sure it is precisely known is why you might not be getting any responses. ALSO, some folks actually work during the day and can't respond during the day. For me, I have always considered the E120, E121, E126, E220 series to be circa 1921-1922. I guess (and this is only a guess so don't shoot me) that the series of 80 would have come before the 120 series (duh). I consider all of these to be 1921-22 though......Most likely there will be some knowledgable folks that will help here. I will try to do a little research tonight and see too.......later

I know that Peter Calderon is our resident Caramel Card expert...

but his website seems to appear that he really only collects the Pre-1915 caramel cards.

Hopefully he still knows the answers to my questions?

At least one source says that, for dating of E120's, it's easily 1922. Vic Aldridge, pitched for the Cubs in 1917-18, and didn't pitch in the majors again until 1922. Gabby Hartnett was a rookie and there is a card of him (although not positive how you would tell that by one of "these" cards) but not one for Dazzy Vance. Go figure......

E121- estimated at 1921 and 1922.....There are many player/team scenarios here and not one makes either date definitive

E122- same as e121

E220- dated between 1921-1923....Distribution was possible in all of those years with the players that have been found to date.

Hal- go by what the big book SCD says....it looks to be as correct as is known.....(they've even got E135's correct, for Pete's sake)

This was the sample/introduction/testing groud set for the others. Leon eluded to this.

So the "Set of 80" was the "prototype" for all of the other Caramel sets that I listed above?

It would make sense.
