Look closely...the seller sent me a scan of the bottom front (can't upload it for some reason today)...to me it looks like someone took a reprint and glued it on top of a regular magee portrait...thoughts?

He won a PSA 1 Magie on Aug 2nd according to his feedback...did he crack that one open? Is he offloading his old one? Is it a total scam? He's been selling some nice cards lately. Interesting...

Geno,
The PSA 1 had a bunch of back damage...I remember that one too...maybe he broke it out to make this one...I actually think I have bought from this dealer before and I know he has sold some nice stuff lately but this just looked strange to me...

I agree 100% with you - it seems a bit odd. It just doesn't look right, especially with all the other ones he's sold lately. Unless somebody knows him as a reputable dealer, I'd be wary of anyone throwing around cards like he has been lately without a third party. If I had money like that for cardboard, I guess I would worry about it! Your Magie is still one of the best cardboard acquisition stories in my mind...

One thing to take note of is he paid $2,102, and has a Buy it now of $2,200 on the card. IF it's a scam, it's a big risk to make less than $100.

Does the back match the front? It might be that I am looking to hard for something wrong but I sould not figure out for sure if the wear was consistent.

Why wouldn't you spend the extra $1 to supersize?

The guy does have perfect feedback. He should get a little benefit of the doubt.

You guys be the judge. I would be inclined to say if its fake its one of the better ones I’ve seen. However as much as I dislike grading companies this is one card I would have to buy slabbed. Might take a chance ungraded for $400-$500 bucks but not $2200. The seller does have good feedback, but you do have to wonder why someone wouldn’t get this card of all cards graded before they try to unload it.

However if John (z28jd) pushes me into a bidding war it’s on!

Fake or no fake!

Like i told other people this guy has very good feedback but also owns a psa1 Magie which isnt the same card as this one on ebay.I really think he bought the psa1 because its an upgrade appearance-wise over this card and now hes trying to sell this one for the amount he spent on the other.Dont forget a 2200 price tag doesnt include the ebay fees he has to pay so really he wont be making any money even if it sold for the buy it now.

If the cards not graded by a reliable grading company and not being sold by a trusted dealer then im always going to have some kind of doubt

To John- I dont know if i can DRUM up enough money for another MAGIE

It should be PSA graded to see if it is real. I wouldn't trust any other service.

funny Dan...

that way it has a better chance of being designated 'real'.

the seller is legit...have done business with him before. he doesn't like grading companies. the card is guaranteed authentic/unaltered. i'm sure he can send it into a grading company before you send the cash.

although you guys make some good points, if so many of you have done business with this guy, why doubt one card and not all of them...?? isnt is possible that there are some real legit people on ebay and not everyone is a scammer? you guys make me laugh sometimes...

Did you ever notice that most questionable high dollar cards always seem to be heavily damaged in and around the area which identifies the card as the rarity? The size shape and placement of lettering on T206 cards varies quite a lot across the different subjects. It's very consistent however when you compare examples of the same card. Look through a couple Mastro catalogs to find a few authentic Magie cards pictured. Look closely at the lettering on each card. The lettering on all the cards is distinctly the same. Does the lettering of the card in question look the same as the authentic cards pictured in the Mastro catalog?
