Default A Very Fun pickup I just got

Thanks to Peter Spaeth I am now officially hooked on famous sports and non sports cards other than mainstream.... fun to collect and not nearly as expensive...... heres my latest acquisition.... theres a twist to this which is the best part of all which I will post later on tonite........ STAY TUNED..... card is of International Olympic Committee chair Avery Brundage from 1952-1972.... this is when he competed in the 1912 games in the Pentathlon and the Decathlon....picked the wrong year to try that as both were swept by Jim Thorpe......

Nice. I just got in this paper thin Zatopek which supposedly is from 1947 which I think would make it his first.

Default Closer look....

The script "B" is one of the classic marks used by one of the Founding Fathers of card collecting Jefferson Burdick..... which makes this a card from his collection at one point in time! First one Ive ever owned...... I feel like Ive finally arrived!!!!

Default Thanks

Great links. I think the history encapsulated in cards is the best part about them..... NOT THE PLASTIC TOMBS many are trapped inside today! What a great hobby and thanks to Leon for Net54 ( and to all the other nutty collectors out there).... happy collecting!
