All,

Does anyone ever claim insurance from UPS or FedEx? If they approved your claim, I know they will pay you the insured amount but will they take away your items as well or they will let u keeping the items.

With UPS I have had cases where the item is confiscated and cases where it is not. I think it depends on the value of the item.

A good friend of mine owned a music store, and UPS paid for damage to a grand piano about 1/10th of its cost. He told them to take it back and give him 100% of its cost and they told him to take it to court and refused.

I am currently working on an article about insurance for SCD and this is what the FedEx rep told me:

"You'd probably be best getting your own insurance when you're shipping something very valuable (collectibles). If you're shipping Ground, they put a declared value on it for 50k, but items that are extraordinary (sports collectibles) are limited to $100 declared value maximum."

Hope this helps a little.
