I don't know land prices in Iowa, but it would have to be worth way more than 259-300+k for just under 200 acres. You can barely get a house for 250-300k here on Long Island, +200 acres of land. The price doesn't sound crazy to me, I don't know....I'm a farmer too

That's pretty cool, I would think someone will buy it with all the publicity now...

If you list it they will come.....

100 acres of farmland is probably 30-50k, and that was before property values tanked, if anything 300k is to high.

300 to 500 per acre? I'd buy it all day long.

I agree with Matthew, farmland isn't cheap, I would guess at least $3,000 per acre. Then you have to add in the property value and also the novelty of the "Field of Dreams".

I was wrong, avg price of acre of farmland in Iowa is 3500-4000 which is shocking considering in North Dakota it is going for 300-500 an acre and less in some cases.

If the land in North Dakota is anything like the land in South Dakota I can see why it's so cheap.

I live in central Iowa and know a little bit about local land prices.

Good cropland around here sells for 4-, 5-, even $6000 per acre. I don't know the quality of the soils upon which the Field rests but I suppose they're comparable. Given that, $700,000-$1 million would not be an unreasonable sale price. $5.4 is probably wishful thinking.

I'll actually be driving right by there tomorrow. I'll stop by and pay my respects before it's a Field of Soybeans again.

I would think it would be worth a lot more that $350k. 193 acres is substantial. If you stole it you would pay more than $4k-$5k per acre, and a lot more on the open market.

Are there any comps on VCP to go by?

A handful of real-estate companies have stopped allowing VCP to list their prices realized. You'd think companies such as this would want to publicize that information, but I'm sure they have very, very good reasons not to.

I went to school 25 miles away in Dubuque. The place is certainly magical. A beautiful spot for spontaneous pick-up baseball games, and a genuine piece of Hollywood in a state that doesn't have much by way of "A list history". Still, for 5.4 million, you could buy several surrounding counties. I'd be shocked if they get anywhere near their sticker price, but novelty is novelty.
