Yowza! Whoever made the decision to do that should not be a position to decide to do that. For some reason, I would have found it slightly less reprehensible if they had separated the "Theodore" and the "Williams" and made two separate cut cards. The "dore Williams" just seems like a middle finger to anybody that collects autographs. What's next? Maybe take a Babe Ruth signature and cut it into 8 pieces and make 8 insert cards?

It's worse than just ruining a cut--they did this to a full cancelled check. Ridiculous. This is what happens when non-hobby people are brought in to work in the industry.

Not 'almost'.

But do you really expect better?

It could've been nice as a folding booklet card; open it, and you have "Theodore" on one side, and "Williams" on the other.

How about just creating a redemption card for the intact check? These companies are ridiculous, but not as much as the people who buy and support this garbage.

Because you can buy a full check of Williams for $400 or less but you can't print 1/1 on it even though each check is indeed unique so this terrible looking card is bid at double what you can buy a check for because of that designation. Makes no sense to true collectors of memorabilia but that is why the trading card companies do it. Perceived value of the card is greater than the complete intact item.

Yay! Let's spend 10 times market value to get a partial Ted Williams auto. Makes you wonder why they even collect.

at 900 with a day left they better hope it's a 1 of 1 PSA 10, ONLY, It needs about 4 more names to make it truly collectible. Like a cracked iceberg, a protractor, Aqua chrome panini sandwich or maybe a metal rainbow. Then everyone would want it. These knuckleheads need to have a brain MRI Stat.

I never heard of that guy Dore Williams. I'd rather have a Italian cold "cut" from San Carlos Deli in Chatsworth on the crunchy roll.

Careful, don't give Topps any ideas.

I don’t think it’s Topps, but someone cut a Ty Cobb letter and made cards with each word of the letter…

I guess my opinion is different. While I wouldn't have done that, nor have any interest in the card, and think it's stupid, Williams checks are not that rare. There's several on eBay right now. Anyone that wants one wouldn't have any problem finding one. Hey, if some moron wants to spend $1K+ on a "dore Williams" cut, let them.

It’s true there is only one “ dore Williams “ cut auto in existence, I hope! 1/1

This whole 1/1 sham is such a farce. I have to believe that only the lowest IQ and most gullible of collectors fall for it. Manufactured rarity is such an obvious and pathetic marketing ploy that caters to the lowest common denominator of '"collectors".

If a modern day example of "The Emperor's Clothes" exists, then this is it. I wonder if these same people pay 10 times market price for cars that are missing the seats or houses that are missing the bathrooms.

I'm wondering if there is any possibility that the rest of the auto is folded into the card somehow? I really doubt it but I think it could have a slim chance of being inside the card somehow.

Well, the card manufacturers tried it out the other way and look where we ended up. Forty year old sets of cards that are worth less now then when they were issued. Junk wax.

BTW, I agree with you about manufactured rarity of these modern cards. Craziness. And it will fall down like a house of cards.

I did a blog post on a Frank Robinson 1/1 auto that sold for quite a bit (don't recall how much now, but $100-200+ I think) vs just buying his same certified signature on a Nabisco card for under $10.

I have added low print run cards, trying not to pay too much of a premium. It all depends on what it is and how much.
