Default Paypal Owed / Gift

Anybody else notice the Paypal Owed / Gift option is gone?

Looks like it's been replaced with a "Friends and Family" button.

I don't think I've used Paypal Gift before but have used "Paypal Owed" in situations that apply.

Given the way people abused the PayPal gift option, I'm surprised it lasted this long.

C'mon Rob you work for free don't you?

Paypal Terms of Service

4. Receiving Money.
4.1 Receiving Personal Payments. If you are selling goods or services, you may not ask the buyer to send you a Personal Payment for the purchase. If you do so, PayPal may remove your ability to accept Personal Payments.

I must admit, that's pretty ambiguous.

So "friends and family" is the same percentage as a regular paypal transaction?

No, it's still free, but it's worded differently.

100% disagree about using paypal gift. It is simply a different product with different, and almost no, protections. I am sure their actuaries were involved with it. It is an option I use as often as I can. If they offer a product I see no reason not to use it. Others will disagree but that is my thought as of now.

I agree with Leon.

May I suggest the use of PPFF (PayPal Friends and Family) on B/S/T when payment methods are listed?

We can all be friends even if we don't always get along.

I guess I do too, as I seem to send them more money.

And so far no one on this board has asked me "who gets your cards when you die."

There's no fee if from PayPal balance or bank account. But if you use a debit or credit card there is a fee.

I was about to post the same thing today.....just tried using Paypal gift today and the "gift" option is gone. It just says pay for goods or friends and family. But the only two options it gave me were Paypal balance or echeck from bank account.....anybody else getting the same thing? Or any way around the echeck thing? It says echeck takes 3-5 days to clear....that's a pain in the ass. I'm getting more and more irritated with PayPal with every passing day. They're getting to be dip$hits just like their brother Fleabay.

I also use the paypal gift when I trust the other party involved.Especially when it comes to card transactions.I agree its an offered service so ill utilize it.I have used it for other things bought off Ebay and other sites with a little more trepidation but knock on wood haven't burnt yet.

Sure it's an offered service, so are bereavement fares. But when I book a plane flight I don't misuse them. It's clearly not intended to be used for the selling of goods. But hey to other's point they probably figured a lot of people would misuse it when they came out with it.
