Default Spring training is approaching!!!!!

Posted By: Ken McMillan

I've got the fever and can't stand it. Just ordered tickets for 4 spring training games and will probably get more. Going to see the Cubs, White Sox, Dbacks, and Angels. Will also be looking to see the rockies at Hi Corbet. Is anyone else coming to Arizona? This is better than Christmas.

Ken

I used to go to Florida in the late 80s when I was in college. My wife (of all people) just suggested that I take my 9 year old son. We're Reds fans and will be seeing the Red Sox, Yankees, and Pirates.

Can't wait!

Tom

PS And I'll be shopping for pre-war cards while we're there. Any suggestions around Sarasota/Ft.Pierce? (now forum-relevant)

My family and I will be taking in 5 Phillies games during the second week of March. I can't wait!

I felt like the spring training games I saw two years ago really helped me understand the organization a lot better. Best of all my son and I got Cole Hamels' autograph when he was just a single A pitcher.

I'm leaving for Florida the 20th and will be there until the 29th. I've never gone to any games but my dad and I have gone to Spring Training twice before to watch the work outs and score an occasional autograph. I love it down there. Some facilities are more fan friendly than others. It really is a shame the Dodgers are leaving Vero because Dodgertown is the most fan accessible facility of them all. The only thing separating you from the players is a thin yellow rope. I was especially excited about going to Dodger town this year because it's their final year so I assume it will be a huge signing fest and Don Mattingly would be there. Now Donnie is going through a messy divorce and I have no idea if he'll be there or not. A childhood dream in pergatory.

Vero Beach was great, but nobody was going to games there. The Dodgers will get a lot more fans when they move closer to LA. They do play the last week of Spring Training in Phoenix this year (they are using the A's stadium when the A's go to Japan).

I plan on hitting a Dodger game (in AZ, 3/22), Giants (?), and Rockies (3/16). Maybe a few in Surprise too. If anyone wants to meet up at a game (or for beers afterwards), e-mail me.

I don't really know too much about the games at Vero but the town itself loves the Dodgers. I know the mayor was really upset at them leaving. Another team will likely take the Dodgers place. The Indians are supposed to be leaving Florida after this season too. Hopefully I'll get to see some new teams. It would be great to make it out to Arizona though. The last few times I was down for Spring Training I've gotten some great autographs.

but next! My mom just bought a retirement home in Sedona and has 3 extra bedrooms - which will be great and My wife and kids will be able to go down and we can all go to the Mariners Spring training! If you don't live in the area the expensive thing are hotels - so I figure we save money staying at G-ma's house and we can spend the extra time going to extra games and renting a car - Very excited, and by next year, my son will be almost 3 so he'll enjoy the games even more!

jealous, but looking forward to next year!

The Dodgers play the Red Sox at the LA Coliseum March 29th, think it's the last exhibition game for them. Tickets sold out in less than an hour. It's the first game back there since they left for Chavez Ravine in '62, and should be a good one.
