Default Site Issues 1/24/21

Updated thread 1/24/21 ....We had more site issues a few minutes ago. The hosting company continually says they don't know why.
We are looking at a new host . The servers, firewall etc... have been configured and I am optimistic that in 3-4 weeks we should be on a new hosting platform..

**This site is not changing aesthetically or functionally (except it shouldn't go down daily, as it has lately). And the goal will be 0 downtime during the migration. Both sites will run in tandem for several days then we will point to the other company and be done. Sounds simple LOL

.thanks for everyone's patience,

I too would love to know what the backstory of this cabinet card is.

I see (besides a bunch of dudes in blackface):
Sigmund Freud if he slept as long as Rip Van Winkle
Uncle Sam
Guy with either a giant hair curl or a Gorbachev birthmark
Seattle grunge guitarist guy
Double goatee & snowpants guy
Guy who started to put on blackface but thought better of it and had a smoke instead
Cowboy with tiny hat playing catcher
Benedict Cumberbatch's Frog Town cousin
Hugh Hefner's great-grandfather
Terrifying big hand gentleman who might be high on shoe polish

Anyone on the site in the last several minutes knows we went down for around 10-15 minutes. (I think). We will find out the reason again and eventually might have to find a different hosting company.

With the understanding technology advances when we did the migration 11 yrs ago, to our new host, it took 2 servers going fulltime for 3 weeks to transfer the data. And that is besides the technical aspect of it. Of course we can run parallel sites but still, it's not a quick or easy task. I won't let the site go down often for long, it isn't good for my health.

More technical issues this morning and last night. I think at this point it might be time to find a new hosting company. This isn't flying any longer...

Thanks for everyone's patience.

Default Bing?

Guy in front, with hat and pipe, looks like Bing Crosby in Holiday Inn, in a tribute to Abraham Lincoln on his birthday.

The more things change, the more they remain the same. 150(?) years since this group shot of white boys thot it was funny to do blackface and Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon still do it . . . but at least see the error of their ways and apologize. Get your tickets now. We're well on the road to ruin.

Site appeared to be down for a few minutes just now. Was afraid that hackers might have kidnapped Leon and we would have to send them our top cards and collectibles as ransom to get him free

No, but there is a search database issue. I just put a help ticket in. I am in the process of looking for a new hosting company....

Default New hosting being evaluated

Starting today we will be testing another hosting platform. This site will stay up (as long as the current provider can keep it up) until the testing and migration are done. I expect this process to not take more than 3 weeks to test and make sure before we jump. There shouldn't be any affect on the site while doing it.

It is quite a bit more costly but I shouldn't have to hold my breath to see if our site is up when I login...That makes it worth it.

Once a type card collector always a type card collector...

Yes, it looks like face painting to me. I guess they did that kind of thing back then. Kind of cool to me.... I think I like Uncle Sam best.
It reminds me of this T209-2
