Default Opinion needed on grading this card????

Posted By: Danny Grimes

Hi, everybody. i just want a few opinions on what i should do. I have an awesome T206 Happy-Jack Chesbro with a pen smere on the back. Im submitting a large bunch of cards to SGC this coming weekend, but will SGC reduce the grade immensly for the pen mark? or should i just send it to PSA and get the (MK) qualifyer?

thanks Danny

I'd take the probable SGC 30 over the probable PSA 4mk, but that has more to do with my preference for SGC than with any disdain for qualifiers. Most Q's don't seem to matter as much to prewar collectors as they do to postwar collectors. Heck, I actually like a lot of T206's and similar cards with MC qualifiers.

SGC 20 or PSA 4 MK assuming there are no unseen wrinkles or creases.

i would send the card to whatever company i have the other cards sent to...looks like an sgc30 or a psa4mk. it's a nice card and i don't think it matters much price-wise with the bidders.

Same reason PSA does; it is a pretty major technical flaw. Depending on the details, most people consider a PSA qualifier to drop the value by two to three grades.
JimB

P.S. I think it is still a very attractive card and very desirable, but the pen mark on the back drops the technical grade.

PSA 4(MK) is more valuable on the market then an SGC 20; it also more accurately describes the condition of the card.

i think JimB is right.
sgc 20.
they're tough on a mark and this pen mark will catch the grader's eye
quickly.
i'd prefer the 20 over the MK of PSA.
still, a nice looking card.

best,
barry

That card should do better than a 20 - I think it will definitely get a 30. I also agree, I'd prefer an sgc 30 over a psa 4mk. But I am also biased toward SGC.
